Please bear with this slightly long post because it is one hell of an illustration of Israel-derangement syndrome in Ireland. An international conference of 'Special Envoys & Coordinators Combating Antisemitism' is currently taking place in Ireland. There was a reception for delegates this evening at the Department of Foreign Affairs. Maurice Cohen of the Irish Jewish Representative Council told the delegates and other guests that he had booked 70 rooms at the Herbert Park Hotel for delegates. But once the hotel discovered what the event was for, they cancelled the booking asking if the conference had a connection to the IDF. (It doesn't, and what a bizarre question to ask). How deeply ironic that this should happen to delegates attending a conference dedicated to fighting anti-Semitism. What this does say about today's Ireland? Nothing good. This story is eminently newsworthy. Journalists should contact Maurice Cohen. (The hotel should be sued). @Alan__Shatter @abrahamson_ed @RachelMoiselle

This is, in my opinion, one of the best speeches of the 21st century so far. It is a ‘must watch/listen’. I have to say I agree with every word of it.
European civilisation must, absolutely must, recover our inheritance, our greatness, our destiny.

Well done all cunts who got our home game played in Serbia tonight 👏🏻 Sure what would we want with the extra 2 points or being in Pot 2 for Euro 2028 🤷♂️ on the positive side it’s the end of the stop the game pricks…

Giving up home advantage to pander to fanatics who still hate the team is the worst decision ever. Could easily cost us top two finish and pot 2 seeding

If @fiannafailparty can read the room they should get this guy up front ASAP.
This is objectively great. Essentially turns the general public into one big Public Accounts Committee. Very cool.

There was no behaviour of the old order satirised in Father Ted quite as absurd as Joanne Cantwell reading out the StopTheGame statement at halftime as if it was perfectly normal for a national broadcaster to relay the message of a bunch of far-left cranks to a football audience.

Ireland since independence has always rejected the political extremes. Communism and fascism were rejected in the 20th century and militant ultranationalism during the Troubles was overwhelmingly rejected by voters.
Opinion polls show that middle Ireland does not support the extreme obsession of a minority with one of the world’s many awful conflicts. That so many politicians (and most media) are so detached from the average voter is a real cause for concern. The political class has shown itself to be out of touch on other issues, eg the referendums of 2023. Some self reflection by politicians on the obsession with one of the Middle East’s conflicts is needed more than even after tonight’s game.

RTÉ is covering the “No Kings” protest against Trump's visit which is organised by "campaign group Uplift".
What RTÉ fails to mention is that Uplift is a powerful NGO with substantial backing from international groups, billionaires & Irish Govt itself.
According to its latest accounts:
Billionaire founder of Ebay, Pierre Omidyar, gave €127,312.
€75,000 from Civitates, a Brussels-based pooled fund whose foundation partners include George Soros’s Open Society
€74,907 from Rowan Trust, an Irish activist-led philanthropic fund (More on them soon)
€18,612 from the Sunrise Project, an Australian-founded international climate campaigning network.
€14,201 from St Stephen’s Green Trust, primarily supported by a Dutch family foundation
The Irish Govt also supports Uplift,
In 2021 and 2022, Uplift’s accounts recorded €150,000 from Rethink Ireland for the Far Right Observatory, for which Uplift acted as lead partner and legal entity.
Uplift is entitled to campaign and protest.
But when RTÉ presents it simply as a “campaign group”, viewers should also be told about the extensive international funding from billionaires and historical Govt co-funding behind its operations.
