Ah yes, the NFL once again heroically protecting the fragile feelings of professional football players.
Cam “Scattaboo” Skattebo committed the unforgivable crime of… running the football hard and lowering his helmet while trucking a defender. The refs immediately threw the flag for “unnecessary roughness” because apparently delivering a hit as a ball carrier is now a personal foul.
Next week they’ll fine him for breathing too aggressively or existing with intent.
This is not the NFL you grew up watching. It’s flag football with better commercials and worse officiating.

Final thoughts from the Giants 27-21 Week 7 overtime win vs the Texans:
•Heck of a way for Cam Skattebo to respond after not getting any carries the week before. 17 carries, 124 yards with a TD and his 42-yard overtime run set up the game-winning run. Tremendous game.
•Cam Skattebo got called for that incredibly stupid personal foul call for trucking a defender. And watch, he’ll probably get a fine from the league for it too. Stupid.
•Devin Singletary goes from being a healthy scratch for several weeks to making the game-winning touchdown run in overtime. Tremendous run by Singletary to get the win.
•Good first start for J.J. McCarthy. Made some pretty good throws and looked very efficient out there. He definitely deserves to continue to start heading out of the bye week.
•Jameis Winston seems to have taken over the “tush push,” or the Giants version of it. Definitely worked on the touchdown, and then it really worked when they faked the tush push and Cam Skattebo got big yards on the fake. Good misdirection call.
•Another 100-yard performance for Malik Nabers; he really looks like he’s back to his dominant self again and has been tremendous for the Giants.
•Malachi Fields is slowly becoming a more reliable option for the Giants passing attack. 4 catches for 83 yards. He stepped up in a game where Isaiah Likely had a rather quiet game.
•There was a Jalin Hyatt sighting and he even got a target, but he wasn’t close to getting the catch. Wonder if he’ll get anymore opportunities to get called up off the practice squad again.
•Good to see Thomas Fidone get his first NFL catch, which set up the one Giants touchdown. They should try to get him more involved going forward.
•Dominic Zvada had a really bad game kicking, and one where he almost cost the Giants the win. John Harbaugh has to make a decision over the bye week and if Zvada gets to be the kicker moving forward. Went from 9-for-9 to 13-for-18 in a span of a few weeks.
•On the other side of special team, Jordan Stout is so good. Makes his kicks look effortless. Booms his kicks.
•Micah McFadden picked up the slack with the loss of Tremaine Edmunds, as he led the Giants defense with 10 tackles, all solo. Also had 2 tackles for a loss as well.
•Deonte Banks looked really impressive in coverage. Definitely seems to have shaken off the previous struggles he once had and really has gotten back to being an impactful football player again.
•Abdul Carter might not have gotten a sack, but he was causing pressure and forcing holding penalties to the Houston offensive line.
•Kayvon Thibodeaux with the near interception in overtime. The Texans barely moved the ball in overtime, so the dropped pick didn’t hurt the Giants.
•It took the Giants 18 weeks last year to get to 4 wins. The Giants get their 4th win by Week 7. How things have changed in the span of a year.
•The Giants head into the bye week 4-2-1 and will keep 1st place of the NFC East as well.

J.J. McCarthy looks like a completely different QB in New York, making big time throw after big time throw.
20/28, 252 PASS YDS, 0 TD, 0 INT vs Texans
With McCarthy at QB, the 4-2-1 Giants are now the favorites to win the NFC East.
🤝 Paid partnership

Did you ever think we would see a penalty for unnecessary roughness on a RB who was just running forward into a crowd of defenders? I have seen 1000s of RBs do exactly same thing in past 50 years and never get a penalty??? What a joke!

How is Donald Trump’s criticism of President Zelensky interpreted in Moscow? “Moscow perceives these words as a mandate to continue military pressure,” writes one Russian paper. I ask Muscovites to name one word that’s important to them, & read what Russian schoolkids are taught about “defence of the Motherland.” #ReadingRussia
