This is a very succinct example of what I've been building. Developing, and then getting all the moving parts working in tandem has been a lot of fun.
In the world of infosec and IT there are a class of problems that must be ignored despite their severity because there isn't any good way to fix them. In fact, you learn to ignore them for so long you forget they even exist. Let's talk about one of them. The "Downloads" folder

So here's the thing. You can only violate people's legal rights and your own word so far before they lawyer up and come after you. I really do hope Musk changes his mind and does the right thing - the employees deserve that. But it'll be fun as hell if he doesn't.

Breaking news: scientists are reporting a recent discovery that exposure to Starlink satellite transmissions is now the leading cause of COVID-19 infections worldwide.

馃УHi. Free-speech maximalist here. No, this issue has nothing to do with free-speech -- as such. Trump wasn't suspended because he's bad for society (though he is), but because he was bad for Twitter's brand.

There鈥檚 been a lot of dunking on idiot tech bros for misunderstanding what鈥檚 hard about social media. But one thing I鈥檝e seen missing, is that it absolutely can cause deaths. Failing to understand that, is failing to understand people.

What happens when a religious state asks for the users active near a minority religious site? Or tracking data for users within contested territory?

Each of these causes real human death. Often horrifically so, and on a scale far higher than a couple of cars. Running social networks connects humans. And I鈥檓 a global world, that is surprisingly fraught.
While everything is fresh, some ex-Twitter should open a text editor and start writing all the things she/he remembers. Don't care to organize the ideas right now, start with the latest crazy days, both the big picture and single small facts. Then go backward with memory.

Fairly solid thread of system threats to large systems. I don't know the poster, but I have seen many of these over my professional career. #SRE
I've seen a lot of people asking "why does everyone think Twitter is doomed?" As an SRE and sysadmin with 10+ years of industry experience, I wanted to write up a few scenarios that are real threats to the integrity of the bird site over the coming weeks.
A short thread on why scale is hard. (@Ramin_DK is awesome, BTW)
It's time for a thread on why Twitter hasn't gone down yet 馃У

Interesting thread in corporate takeovers.
If I had to bet on whether Elon will pull through and Twitter ultimately succeeds, I鈥檇 probably still bet on the success case. Social networks are surprisingly durable. Still, there is a KNOWN playbook for how to take over a dysfunctional company and quickly turn it around. 馃У
Hello, Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone at home? Come on now I hear you're feeling down Well, I can ease your pain And get you on your feet again Relax I'll need some information first Just the basic facts Can you show me where it hurts?

I asked #Galactica about some things I know about and I'm troubled. In all cases, it was wrong or biased but sounded right and authoritative. I think it's dangerous. Here are a few of my experiments and my analysis of my concerns. (1/9)

You know, the great thing about unions is that if you have a union contract your company can鈥檛 suddenly & coercively demand you work 20+ hours of unpaid overtime or be fired. Just saying.

Interesting. I agree with the thread, in that allowing engineers to opt@out with severance, this is probably net-good. I don鈥檛 like the values change, but appreciate the transparency.
