New publication in Cancer Cytopathology! 🎉🇫🇮🇨🇿
Our Finnish–Czech collaboration on rare primary pulmonary salivary gland-type tumors: overall cytohistologic concordance 48.1%, with FNA performing best (75%).
Many thanks to Henri Lagerstam & Ivana Kholová doi.org/10.1002/cncy.70153 – at Horoměřice, Česká republika
Our paper is out in @Cancer_Cell!
We started this project almost 5 years ago with the idea that to understand why some cancer patients respond to immunotherapy and others do not, we may need to look beyond the tumor before treatment. Immunotherapy is not just a test of a pre-existing state; it is a perturbation. It changes the tumor immune microenvironment.
So the question became: can the direction of that change explain response?

A new review summarizes the pathogenesis and treatment of myeloproliferative neoplasms, highlighting the role of driver mutations, inflammation, and emerging targeted therapies that may achieve durable disease modification.
Read the Review Article “Myeloproliferative Neoplasms” by Isabelle Plo, PhD, and William Vainchenker, MD, PhD: nej.md/4wD0AWG

ALT An illustrated diagram from the Review Article "Myeloproliferative Neoplasms" that shows the main structures and functions of the myeloproliferative neoplasm driver mutations. Panel A shows a schematic representation of Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) in its inactive state on the thrombopoietin receptor (MPL) and in the active conformation induced by the MPL mutations or calreticulin (CALR) mutations. Panel B shows the mechanisms of oncogenic signaling activation. Mutant CALR binds to MPL monomers in the endoplasmic reticulum and travels through the canonical secretory pathway to the cell surface.
