Taking a few extra seconds to slow down & look twice can save a life.
Drivers play a critical role in preventing pedestrian collisions. Itโs important to stay alert & anticipate pedestrians especially in intersections, crosswalks, playground zones & busy neighbourhoods.
Drivers can help keep pedestrians safe by:
โ
Scanning crosswalks & sidewalks before proceeding through intersections.
โ
Slowing down in areas with high pedestrian traffic, including playground zones.
โ
Checking for pedestrians before turning left or right.
โ
Being extra cautious at night & in poor weather when visibility is reduced.
โ
Putting distractions away & keeping their eyes on the road.

Our graphic designer may be out of office, but the home security tips are still on the clock. ๐ก
While you are getting your property ready for the season, don't forget to overlook home security. Tools, ladders & yard equipment left out during fall cleanup can become easy targets for thieves.
Help keep your property safe this fall:
๐ Secure, lock away tools, ladders & other yard equipment when not in use.
๐ Do not leave equipment visible in your yard overnight.
๐ Trim shrubs, hedges to reduce hiding spots around doors & windows.
๐ Check outdoor lighting as daylight hours decrease.
๐ Keep garages, sheds & gates closed and locked, even when working nearby.
๐ Mark valuable equipment with identifying information. Keep a record of serial numbers.
A few simple precautions can help prevent theft, keep your property secure this season.

Public safety is a team effort.
Civilian technical subject matter experts & support staff work on everything from flying a helicopter, analytics & technology to finance, human resources & legal services.
Their work helps keep officers focused on frontline priorities while ensuring the Service can operate effectively.
The recommended budget invests in all CPS employees because every employee plays an important role in delivering public safety to Calgarians.

Protecting yourself online goes beyond recognizing scams. During Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we're sharing ways to improve your security & reduce your exposure to cyber threats.
Consider implementing these tips to strengthen your online security:
๐ต Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) whenever possible & use an authenticator app or security key instead of text message verification.
๐ต Use a password manager to create, store & manage strong, unique passwords for each account.
๐ต Keep your devices, web browsers & security software up to date by enabling automatic updates.
๐ต Turn on built-in browser security features, such as Google Safe Browsing or Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, to help detect & block suspicious websites.
๐ต Regularly review your account security settings & update passwords if you suspect an account has been compromised.
