Great meeting @JulzKagwa representing Uganda during the sidelines of @WTTC Global Summit in Malta.

For a young and blossoming tourism sector like ours, success cannot only be about how many visitors we attract. It has to be about who we attract, the value they bring, where that value goes and how tourism creates opportunities for the communities, businesses and investors that make our destinations work...while protecting what makes people want to visit in the first place.
A particularly encouraging moment came when Hon. Najib Balala, Vice President at WTTC, acknowledged the progress Uganda has made in destination marketing: “Uganda, you’re doing all the right things.” We take that encouragement seriously.
There is much more work ahead, but our first WTTC Summit has reinforced the opportunity before us...to learn, connect, collaborate and establish Uganda’s role in the global tourism ecosystem.
The message we left Malta with was simple: Uganda is here for the long haul. 🇺🇬 [2/2] #ExploreUganda

Today is World Tourism Day, and this year's theme, "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism", invites us to think carefully about the sector we are building for the next generation.
I've spent over three decades in this sector, through booms, crises and innovation. I have watched technology reshape how we travel many times, but this moment feels different.
AI and digital tools are already helping destinations anticipate demand, manage visitor flows with greater care and offer travellers experiences that feel truly personal. They are also creating new skills and new careers across our sector.
Travel & Tourism supports hundreds of millions of jobs worldwide. As we redesign the sector for a digital age, our responsibility is to make sure this transformation lifts communities, protects the places we love to visit and keeps people at the centre of every decision.
This is the work ahead for the public and private sectors to continue building the future of Travel & Tourism in partnership.
On this World Tourism Day, my thanks to everyone who keeps our sector moving 🌏
#WorldTourismDay
🌍 Today is #WorldTourismDay, a moment to recognise the social, cultural, political and economic value of Travel & Tourism.
Our sector drives 10% of global GDP, supports livelihoods, connects cultures and brings nations closer together.
✈️ As the sector grows, AI and digital innovation are increasingly shaping which destinations travellers choose and the experiences they enjoy. Digital standards and biometrics are also making journeys safer and more seamless.
🤝 Together, the public and private sectors can shape a stronger future for Travel & Tourism.
