Agree with this sentiment that Elon has done more to manifest the future than any other living human.
Elon says plenty if things I don’t agree with, but I think it is a little naive to expect someone so far outside the distribution on so many axes to arbitrarily act super normal and restrained on the interpersonal comms one
wait a minute, elon musk:
- basically rebuilt america’s space ambitions after the shuttle program got retired. i mean the only way america could send astronauts to space was through the fucking russians! could you imagine if that dependency was still there with the conflict that exists today?
- turned electric cars that no one even remotely touched into a desirable mass market product… this also resulted in vast amounts of competition & other infra development (like the super charger network). he also effectively inspired the chinese electric car industry after they basically stole all of tesla’s secrets.
- acquired twitter & reopened parts of public debate that a ton of gatekeepers preferred closed & off limits. ppl got banned for simply asking questions during humanity’s most critical event (covid).
- & is now saving the sheer incompetence of the american govt by building out an american semiconductor complex.
you can dislike his politics, personality, or methods. but any honest macro accounting has to admit that few individuals ever have done more to rebuild strategic american capacity across space, transportation, communication, & now semiconductors.
the american media judges him tweet by tweet while barely acknowledging the rockets, factories, & infrastructure being built that should’ve actually been the responsibility of the collective. this is shameful af.

i think this might be the first new feature i've ever seen from docusign - automatically added these field fills when i uploaded the docs
logged in to mixpanel today and am reminded that life is just a continuous journey between left nav and top nav
I've spent the last few years trying to figure out the best way to use the skills I developed founding @mixpanel to contribute to the fight against climate change. I think we've found it with @RecheckCo.
In the US we primarily have a deployment problem–we need to deploy solutions much faster than we are–and the best way to contribute with software is to solve deployment bottlenecks.
After investigating many possible approaches, my co-founders and I have decided to focus on residential solar.
There are a number of things slowing the deployment of residential solar. One of them is public perception. The vast majority of the people involved in solar are in it for the right reasons, but there are a small number of bad actors that are out there taking advantage of people–typically the most vulnerable people–with little to no accountability. This is painful for the people affected and harms the reputation of the entire industry.
With Recheck, we want to help solve this problem. With the support of @SEIA, we've built a coalition of some of the most influential organizations in the industry, who are all going to use Recheck to add transparency and accountability to the solar sales process with the goal of preventing future misconduct.
Many thanks to our partners @DividendNow, @ForeverSolar, @onegoodleap , @joinmosaic, @PalmettoEnergy, @Sungage, @SunlightLoans, and @Sunrun for supporting Recheck as part of their ongoing efforts to ensure that every household that goes solar has a great experience.
NEW: Recheck is partnering with SEIA to launch the first-ever nationwide registry for residential solar salespeople and installers to guarantee the highest standards of customer experience.

I had a phone conversation with a crypto scammer last night.
He called pretending to be Coinbase security, saying they'd just had a suspicious withdrawal request and wanted to confirm if it was me.
I was suspicious but was curious what the scam was. He asked me to look at an email that Coinbase had just sent me which helpfully had "WE WILL NOT CALL YOU ABOUT THIS ISSUE" in the subject line, so at that point I called him out.
I asked him why he was doing it, why would you be a thief, why not do something that adds value to the world? He said he'd made millions of dollars and that people fell for it every day. That his goal was $10M. That the reason that Coinbase email says "we will not call you about this" is because of him.
I asked him if he had parents that loved him and what would they think if they knew what he was doing? He said he was a teenager living with his parents, that they used to work fixing machines in a factory but now could retire because he was stealing so much money and that they were proud of him.
This conversation made me sad. I'm sure I'm both naive and privileged but I just don't encounter this kind of thing often and it's shocking to me that people act this way.
I've been curious if it would be possible to spin up a nonprofit to buy solar tax credits and then claim direct pay for them... turns out the answer is a resounding "no"
"Can I make an elective payment election for credits that I purchased or that were transferred to me?"
"No. Any credits for which an election for elective payment election is made must have been determined with respect to you. You must own the underlying eligible credit property or, if ownership is not required, you must otherwise conduct the activities giving rise to the ...
underlying eligible credit. No election payment election may be made for credits purchased pursuant to section 6418..." - source: irs.gov/credits-deductions/e…
Hi #energytwitter does anyone know the reason for existence of the ITC recapture period? If the goal is to promote investment and get things built, not obvious to me why tax credits should get recaptured if a project is sold
at least some updates from the IRA are now live on uscode.house.gov - much easier to parse than reading the bill text with all its references. E.g. section 179d: uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?…
This is a very interesting company & role(s) for folks looking to jump into climate
Yard Stick is hiring an exec SW role (remote) as well as multiple field team roles (Midwest and CA). If you'd be willing to share with your network, I'd be so thankful! 🙏

Plugged in a USB stick that hasn't been touched since 2009. Found the letter I wrote to ASU to defer my scholarship while we did YC for Mixpanel:

The baby poets are our greatest. Remember when Nael, age 6, wrote once of the best poems of the 21 century?
