The HOA fined my husband $750 for breeding birds in our backyard, claiming his hobby violated neighborhood rules. But when he requested the association’s financial records, the board members started panicking. They had no idea that the man they were trying to intimidate would uncover how they had been using homeowners’ money to give themselves interest-free loans.
My husband had been breeding birds for years, and our backyard was always clean and well-maintained. Nobody had complained until Linda, the HOA president, decided his hobby didn’t belong in the neighborhood.
Me: Honey, did you see this notice from the HOA?
My Husband: The $750 fine? Yes. I was going to call Linda tomorrow.
Me: Seven hundred and fifty dollars for keeping birds in our own backyard? What rule did you even break?
My Husband: Apparently, our birds are inappropriate for the neighborhood.
Me: Inappropriate? The birds are quieter than some of our neighbors’ dogs!
My husband laughed, but he wasn’t amused for long. Instead of arguing, he decided to request the specific rule they claimed he had violated, along with the HOA’s meeting minutes and financial records.
When Linda received his request, she called him almost immediately.
Linda: Why do you need the association’s financial records? This is just a simple violation notice.
My Husband: Because I’m a homeowner, I pay my dues, and I’m entitled to ask questions about how the association operates.
Linda: You’re making this much more complicated than it needs to be. Just pay the fine, and we can put this behind us.
My Husband: I’ll consider paying it when you show me the rule I violated. As for the financial records, I’ll wait for those separately.
Two days later, Linda called again.
Linda: The board is willing to reconsider your fine. Perhaps we can resolve this without taking things any further.
My Husband: That’s good to hear. When will the financial records be available?
Linda: I don’t understand why you’re so interested in those documents.
My Husband: And I don’t understand why a request for ordinary financial records has you calling me every two days.
She hung up.

Just curious who LEAKED and NOTIFIED Omar about pending raid.
My second question is why would allegedly decent law abiding citizen would flee their home at night like a thief.
Ilhan Omar left her DC home at 4 AM on October 12, 30 minutes before the HSI agency began monitoring her house.
The raid occurred two hours later. Since then, no one has seen her again; two sources from the Dept of Homeland Security (DHS) said she was likely informed in advance and there could possibly be a chance that she may have had left the country.
Thoughts: Someone involved had warned Omar in advance that there would be a nighttime raid, so she had time to flee the house in the middle of the night.
