Do you struggle with whether to use anticoagulation for tumor thrombus? Hui et al. showed that patients with tumor thrombus have high risks of VTE, bleeding and mortality, and unfortunately the role of anticoagulation remains unclear.

Amazing work by Dr @Maddie_Stephen!!
Here, @maddie_stephen and @sholzberg report on new findings on recombinant porcine factor VIII (rpFVIII) for acquired hemophilia A.
52% of patients had cross-reacting anti-human FVIII antibodies, reducing efficacy of rpFVIII in controlling bleeding.

Thank you @LisaHicksMD and @MarcCarrier1 for all your support, highlighting the risks of VTE and bleeding in patients with PCNSL. Hopefully this work can lead to improvements in care for this population.
In this #RPTH Review Article, @adamsuleman03 et al report their findings from a SR and meta-analysis on risk of VTE in 1ry CNS lymphoma
✅Pooled VTE rate= 11%
✅Fatal PE= 4%
✅High-quality data is lacking in this population

In clinic today, I saw a long-time patient in my practice who has had recurrent, significant medical illness
She brought me close to tears when she said:
"Whatever is on your mind these days, I want you to know that everything will be okay"
Amazing when our patients heal us

Ontario's iron deficiency guidelines are changing; the baseline of what's considered a normal amount of iron is increasing. Dr. Michelle @sholzberg, hematologist & scientist at St. Michael's Hospital, has been advocating for this change for years.

A patient with serious thrombotic episodes was found to have a monoclonal gammopathy of an anti–PF4 antibody. Myeloma therapy reduced the paraprotein level and prevented further thrombotic events. Read the full correspondence: nej.md/3SFWdsN

This is an important cohort study on OCP use after cessation of anticoagulation therapy for VTE
Replying to @MarcCarrier1
MEGA case-control study also confirms that OC use is safe during anticoagulant therapy for VTE but risk of recurrent events ⬆️ following anticoagulation cessation (provoked or unprovoked).
