Internet friends. I hate this website but will still announce that I'm officially launching my debut novel the 4th of October at 19:00, at CÄrtureÈti Verona, if you know where that is. You can, however, buy the book NOW and read two companion stories at the link in my bio.

Types of IR theory:
-Everything worth knowing occurred in 18th century Europe
-Trade good
-Countries fight because vibes
-It would be cool if war was less bad
-Factories: pretty important
-Impenetrable 12 level mind palace
-Trade good?
-Here are some horrific war crimes
what further proof do you need that the Greeks are spiritually and religiously the Romanians' closest cousins. They buy into the same psychotic shit pandered by closeted self-loathing monks off of mount Athos.
đŹđ· Thousands protested in Greece against a new type of ID cards identity card to be introduced later this month.
According to conspiracy theories the new IDs contain chips that will allow authorities to pinpoint location or even control their minds.
PM Mitsotakis stated that they not contain "chips or cameras or listening devices."
On my -I think- 3rd re-read it's embarassing to see again just how good @jeffvandermeer's City of Saints and Mad Men is. And how few writers - genre or "literary" - could ever aspire to produce and get away with something like this.

Oh boy, promoting stuff on Elon's failing hellsite. Here goes. My first book, Ăn TÄcerea NopÈii, an alternate history detective novel is coming out this month. It has fantasy tones and fascists get shot in it more than in a Nicolaescu movie. Preorder here: bit.ly/intacere

Man, forget writing as good as @jeffvandermeer, my new goal is to have book design that is even a fraction as good. How tf can Dead Astronauts look so good as to make Crichton cca. Jurassic Park and Tristan Tzara cca early dada jealous at the same time. â at Victoria, British Columbia

Finally cancelled the @nytimes subscription because of this article â at Bucharest, Romania
Why did the NYT publish such a bizarre article, which normalised a mass murdering russian terrorist and invasion commander as a mere âcritic of Putinâs war effortâ?
Meet its author, NYT reporter Ivan Nechepurenko, a russian national who still lives in russia.
Ivan denies russia invaded Ukraine in 2014, promotes Kremlin narratives about a Ukrainian civil war that is the Westâs fault, advocates that the West accept Crimea as russia, âexpertlyâ explained in 2015 that russia had no interest in Ukraine [beyond Crimea], âexpertlyâ dismissed the build up to the full scale war in early 2022 as a âreality showâ, and very frequently retweets other prominent russian chauvinists with dodgy Kremlin connections and equally awful analysis about russia over the past decade. His timeline is exactly what youâd expect: @INechepurenko.
This is who the NYT thinks is capable of explaining âRussia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other former Soviet republicsâ.
Not really a mystery why that article was so bad.
I sometimes think people in my replies are too harsh on the NYT as a whole whenever they get something wrong, but this seriously reflects badly on the whole outfit. Ivan Nechepurenko is like a parody of a russian chauvinist. I genuinely thought it was a joke when I first heard that article was written by an Ivan in Moscow.
Whatâs infuriating is that there are so many decent journalists across our region from the Baltics to Ukraine yet big international outlets just hire these dodgy Moscow correspondents who get everything significant about russia totally wrong.
If you want decent journalism about russia and also our region from the Baltics to Ukraine then donât hire people who canât see past the russian imperial lens.
