What do you do when you get a new camera? Make a networking cinematic masterpiece while also triggering every network person at the same time…obviously.
Day 43 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Hopefully more time to spend on homelab stuff after this week.
- Setting up some old Cisco stuff, so making sure I can get access for starters
- Updated Ansible role to add DNS records for homelab services for pihole
- Encrypted secrets using ansible vault
Day 41 & 42 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Grafana is up with pulling metrics from node (system metrics) and pihole exporter. Need to update the way I provision datasources for the container.
#100DaysOfHomeLab
Day 39 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Finally fixed pihole, bit of an annoying issue where my tasks adjusted the host's DNS settings before the pihole container finishes its install script.
- Started working on setting up simple prometheus service to monitor important things
Day 38 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Pretty crook, so just spent some time troubleshooting permissions issue with Pihole container that prevents web service from working.
Day 37 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Setup Client Bridge using DD-WRT on a left over router to provide connectivity to my new homelab location in garage.
Day 36 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- All Unifi devices adopted and updated :). Changing the inform host IP is a real gotcha for the unifi controller running in docker.
- Setting up an Edge Router X for future lab use.
Day 35 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Setting up Unifi controller, on an old laptop, on a docker container, using Ansible.
- Using a paper clip to try and adopt long forgotten ubquiti devices
Day 34 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Bit of fixing: dnsmasq works on my pihole container, but its web interface doesn't; changing /etc/resolv.conf on the host when pihole goes down causes some issues when I run the ansible role again.
Day 33 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Creating ansible role to setup pihole on an old laptop. Feels like I have done this a few times before.
... Day 32 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Looking at getting a dedicated NAS in the near future. Removed Proxmox and setup TrueNAS scale instead. Planning on using docker to run long lived services like pihole, unifi controller.
Day 31 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Setup Cloudflare tunnels so I can access different machines using ssh and some web services. Results in a rather large config file, so I would like to automate this and see if I can use Azure AD as IdP.
Day 30 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Setting up Cloudflare Tunnels for accessing local services in the homelab.
- Looking into setting up Windows Servers for Azure AD sync on Proxmox. Hope to automate this, let me know if there are any good resources.
Day 29 #100DaysOfHomeLab
Setting up SOPS with Azure Key Vault to store credentials used in homelab so they can be version controlled - github.com/mozilla/sops. Also, looking at ways to mix homelab with cloudlab? (for cert refresh) due to limited time.
Day 28/100 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Deployed Authentik and setup an application for Harbor using an LDAP provider. Really cool project that solves some Identity Provider needs for homelab.
Picture of one of my ESP32s with a few sensors to measure temp/humid/C02 and LED.
Days 24-26 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Busy weekend away from computers :)
- Finished deploying Harbor into my K8s cluster using helm cart. Pretty neat project as it gives you container image scanning out of the box. I will write this up after a bit more testing.
Day 23/100 #100DaysOfHomeLab
- Looking into harbor (goharbor.io) for an in cluster container registry solution. Have previously used the docker registry.
I would like to build and push my own container images within my own network.
