Tonight, by the permission of Allah, we began our study of Al-Lu’lu’ wa al-Marjan fima Ittafaqa ‘Alayhi al-Shaykhan, by Shaykh Fu’ad Abd al-Baqi. We opened with advice from our teacher, al-Muhaddith Muqbil al-Wadi’i, who recommended studying this work along with Riyad al-Salihin and other books. Next, we examined the background, arrangement, and content of the book, reading from the works of al-‘Allamah Shaykh Abd al-Muhsin al-‘Abbad. Next, we started the chapter concerning the grave sin of lying upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, reading benefits from the works of al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, al-Hafiz al-Nawawi, al-Muhaddith Shaykh Muhammad al-Ithyubi, and others. Among the narrations we covered was the narration of Anas, who said, “What prevents me from narrating more from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is that I heard him say, ‘Whoever intentionally lies upon me, let him take his seat in the Fire.’” This shows the great caution and care of the noble Companions when narrating from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. This was the first of what we hope, Allah willing, will be many more lessons from this important book. May Allah grant us success in our study of the Prophetic Sunnah. youtu.be/aArbhBwCCQU?is=HQyl…

A Note about the Recent Conference… Bismillāh walhamdu lillāh was-Salātu was-Salām ‘alā Rasoolillāh. Amma ba’d. This past weekend, by The Permission of Allāh (‘Azza WaJall), we completed a Knowledge-based conference on the book The Beneficial Means to a Happy Life by Ash-Shaykh ‘Abdur-Rahmān As-Sa’dī (Rahimahullāh). The Prophet (SallAllāhu ‘alayhi waSallām) said: ‘He does not thank Allāh he who does not thank the people.’ After thanking Allāh (SubhānaHu WaTa’Alā), we thank our asātithah, Muhammad Amīn Al Jazā’irī and Ahmed Fathī for taking time out of their schedule to travel to and benefit our community. We also thank the volunteers and attendees who, in various capacities, assisted with the conference. It was heart-warming to be joined by brothers who travelled from other communities including Kitchener, Toronto and Montreal. The conference touched on a number of topics including: Thankfulness to Allāh; The Decree of Allāh and patience therewith; and Islāmically Legislated means to achieve success. We also received different notes of appreciation from conference attendees. We ask Allāh (‘Azza WaJall) To Accept and Bless the efforts of all involved And To Grant everyone an increase in beneficial knowledge and righteous action.

"Cooperate upon righteousness and piety and do not cooperate upon sin and transgression" [5:2] In this 2001 article, at the height of the Abū Muslimah fitnah, we published this document in light of the improper alliances that people formed, siding with those whom they loved, aligned simply with what their group called to (and ignoring the evidences). As Ibn Taymiyyah explains, making oaths, taking stances and calling to alignment is only for the truth. An individual may be right or wrong. In many cases, he may have some right with him and some wrong with him. The key point is that Ahl al-Sunnah state the truth, align with the truth. No hierarchy, no ḥizbiyyah, no fear (of men). The lessons never change. The path of Ahl al-Sunnah is unwavering. Support the truth at every juncture. troid.org/uncovering-the-hid…

In Imām al-Albānī’s Own Words: The Islamic Right to Repel Oppression and Seek Just Retribution  Harsh or Just? Shaykh al-Albānī on Answering Those Who Attacked Him Few scholars of the last century faced as much hostility as Shaykh Muhammad Nāsir al-Dīn al-Albānī. His critics often pointed to the sharpness of his replies as proof of bad character. But was it? In this article, the Shaykh explains in his own words why he answered some of his opponents with firmness, and why he saw it not as anger or pride but as a justified response to those who wronged him first and twisted the truth. troid.org/in-imam-al-albanis…

How the Salaf Disciplined Us Against Argumentation, Online and Offline. Imām Abū Bakr al-Ājurrī (d. 360 AH) said: We command memorising the Sunan from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, the Sunan of his Companions, may Allāh be pleased with them, and of those who followed them in goodness, and the statements of the Imāms of the Muslims, such as Mālik b. Anas, al-Awzāʿī, Sufyān al-Thawrī, Ibn al-Mubārak and their likes. al-Shāfiʿī, may Allāh be pleased with him, Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal, al-Qāsim b. Sallām, and whoever among the scholars is upon their way. And whoever is not (upon their way) is left aside. We do not debate, we do not argue, and we do not dispute. If one meets a person of innovation on a road, he takes another. If he attends a gathering where the person of innovation is present, he gets up and leaves it. This is how our Salaf who have passed disciplined us. Source: al-Sharīʿah, 1/458.
