The past 20 days have marked one of the most monolithic pushes by British media to vilify the Zionism is Racism Green Party motion.
Imbalanced coverage would be an understatement.
The papers wrote 447 articles on the Greens' Zionism vote. Israel, pro-Israel groups and the Chief Rabbi got 12,133 words. Palestinians got 3,173.
Any institution that parades as a "news outlet" can no longer be taken seriously if it covers this motion without also covering the people, Palestinians, who have endured, suffered and been oppressed the most by the ideology in action.
What the figures show:
• Israel's government alone got 3,904 words. More than every Palestinian put together.
• 2,422 of the 3,173 Palestinian words came in stories tying Lubna Speitan, the Palestinian who proposed the motion, to al-Qaeda.
• Apart from Lubna, two Palestinians were quoted across 436 articles, for 76 words between them. Nobody in Gaza, the occupied West Bank or Lebanon was quoted at all.
• Lubna told the Telegraph that 56 members of her family had been killed in Gaza. One article mentioned it: the Telegraph's own al-Qaeda story, in paragraph 44 of 51.
• Lubna has received death and rape threats since the vote. Al Jazeera reported it. None of the 447 British articles did.
• 43 articles said, in the paper's own voice, that the motion meant the destruction or abolition of Israel. The motion calls for one state with "equal rights for all".
• 36 headlines said antisemitism. Not one of 447 said genocide.
• 304 of the 436 articles we read in full never mentioned the genocide at all.
• 0 of 89 comment pieces backed the motion.
• The Daily Mail ran 38 articles on the motion, and in that time, just 2 on Israel's ongoing attacks across Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.

🚨 VOUS NE VERREZ PAS CES IMAGES À LA TÉLÉ !

Neither Cartier-Bresson, Banksy nor Cold War Steve could have come up with such an image. Absolutely perfect composition and lighting (even the road signs are perfect)! 😍

Zack Polanski has allowed his party to be captured by extremists.
It is time for him to go.
My monologue on @LBC this morning:

Less than two months ago a safety critical trained train manager played a crucial role saving lives after the Bedford train crash by requesting the closure of the line on the radio and carrying out emergency actions.
But, apparently, these are ‘jobs that don’t need to exist’!

Because "Britain" isn't in charge. Private water companies are. Ben is a member of Reform UK. Farage has dropped their pledge to re-nationalise water.
Kent is being told to limit water use because supplies are at critically low levels.
Yet Britain hasn't completed a major new reservoir in over 30 years.
In that same period, the UK's population has grown by 11.9 million people (20.7%).
For perspective, Japan has built 100+ reservoirs over a similar timeframe.
How do you grow the population by 11.9 million and not build the infrastructure to support it?
Poll tax, definitely trying to change government policy.
You can vehemently disagree with Palestine Action activists goals, whilst simultaneously be horrified a judge can decide AFTER a conviction if it was terrorism related amd double a sentence.
Being able to class an offense as terrorism AFTER conviction without charging them with terrorism should bother everyone.
Any protest action that is now determined as trying to "change government policy" can have this applied.
So today it's Palestine Action, but next it'll be immigration protests, farmers protests, NHS, tax etc etc.
Having just seen @kmflett speak truth to power and in that spirit; his beard whilst looking excellent was a little underwhelming in size. Still, it's all in the way you use it I guess.

You might think this is bad, but imagine if they were over 60, holding up a placard with four particular words on it. That’s terrorism.

Why not address the fact that people working 40hrs/week can't look after their families?

An all-out assault on the truth, perpetrated by hateful bigots with no interest in truth.
Quote: "An Irish farmer has been thrown off his farm and refused to be let back on with a cohort of migrant scum forcing him off his own land."
Lies.
I'll go through the facts here. /1
It’s been interesting watching the Murdoch press spin Zack Polanski’s precariat life as a have not
• Yes he worked from job to job through agency work where the details of the role were often conveyed verbally
• Yes he lived in insecure housing including slum dwellings
That’s the normal experience for many millions of ordinary people. He’s an ordinary person who experienced an empty bank account like millions of others. The elite can’t seem to comprehend that someone like that is now the leader of a political party.
I'm not in the constituency. I could give my opinion and ask them to go one way or the other and maybe that's the point of the all member vote you talk about but the decision must remain that of the constituency party. The vote feels gauche, just let the local party work it out.
Replying to @rachelmillward
How about Green Party holds an all member vote on whether we stand or withdraw and endorse Burnham?
I see trouble ahead if we defer to Caroline Lucas' view (as much as I often respect her view)

On the attack vans, a Green source says: "Labour is probably paying for the van with the money from Steve Reed’s £2k-a-pop curry night with housing developers."
Replying to @rivkahbrown
Labour has sent attack vans to the Deptford venue accusing the Greens of housing NIMBYism.
