Tempting, to say the least.

At 67 I was in amazing shape, prepared for an amazing race season. But I got Afib. That resulted in a Stroke. Between the two my summer was shot. No training. In fact the opposite - detraining (losing all my progress and returning to ground zero).

I needed to test myself. I did a Green Monster, one of my favorite Strava segments. It was horrible, but I did it in spite of my limitations.

I had a cardio-vert - shocked my heart back into rhythm, then an ablation and a Watchman implant. It's been more than two weeks since my surgery. The Dr. said I could start training gently after 10 days.

18. Wow. First, how many you got? Second, guess the one I missed (so far, things change)

My surgery was the 10th. Like 36 hours ago. Home now and supposed to be mostly sedate for a couple days then very light walking till 10 days after the surgery. Then zone 1/2 till my 45 day checkup. Not too much pain. Hoping for the best.

From Afib to Stroke - Bad to Worse? July 31 I had a stroke. MRI crew told me lucky to be walking & talking. Some believe my high level of fitness for as little damage as there was. Ironically it might have been a 20th century "go harder" mentality got me here in the first place.

That time I flunked an MRI? Long story short (though I will catch you all up on it once I feel like I can concentrate long enough to write longer) on Friday evening I had a stroke but wasn't able to be treated for it till Tuesday. Yeah. Wild story there. Anyway, a major contributing factor (to not being treated, not the stroke itself) was that as an extremely fit and motivated person, it didn't look like I had had a stroke, until the MRI showed without a doubt that it was a big one. I'll discuss my new ability limits, etc., in a new post, but in case the rumors of my disappearance from the social and creator worlds overlaps, I just want to tell you all that I'm still here.

Update: I will be having a brain MRI here in about an hour, and they're going to schedule me for surgery in about 3 weeks. I need to be on these drugs for 3 weeks before I have it. The surgery is done by catheter, so I could be back working in a few days, but probably a week before back in office. #afib

I'm at Hike Expo! and having a lot of fun. Yesterday, May 14 was B2B day, for the Exhibitors, Sponsors, and some of us Speakers. I was super stoked to have met so many fun people. People I've already networked with on LinkedIn and a few others. Looks great. I can hardly wait for my turn to speak, today May 15 on the Center Stage at 10:30. Will you join me? I hope to be able to record it, but there are a few tech issues so wish me the best. hikeexpocolorado.com charlesmiske.com
