This is crazy, a jailbroken PS5 can now play original PS2 game discs directly, without needing to copy the games to digital files first.
Modders have found a way to use the PS5’s disc drive to read original PS2 DVDs and run the games through an emulator.
But they’re not stopping there. Modders are also working on getting original PS3 discs to work on the PS5
So Sony could have made this possible years ago, but they never did, they preferred to keep charging users for useless remakes.

Sony left the comments open during the latest Phantom Blade Zero State of Play, and PlayStation fans flooded it
The 20-minute presentation was filled with “NO DISC, NO BUY” comments and disc emojis. A lot of fans said they would buy Phantom Blade Zero if it gets a physical release, but would skip it if it is digital-only.
The comments continued after the presentation, people calling it “Phantom Disc Zero”“I’ll buy it when it comes out in physical format.”

Christopher Judge, the voice of Kratos in God of War, has criticized video game adaptations for leaving out the people who actually worked on the original games.
Judge said he doesn't understand why shows based on successful games don't bring back the original actors and writers.
He used The Last of Us as an example praising Pedro Pascal's performance, but said he also would have liked to see the original game cast involved in the TV series.
“My problem with all game adaptations is you have this pre-existing, successful property… and the first thing you do is not hire anyone associated with it.”
Judge also mentioned Amazon's upcoming God of War series, questioning why the original game's writers weren't brought back.
“These guys have been immersed in this world for 20 years, but someone's gonna know better?” he said.
