It doesn't have to be this way. Together we can build a brighter future.

Nerds are sitting behind computer screens and saying this event held in the middle of nowhere in a school gym is more valuable than a huge ass event held in one of the biggest US venues in one of the biggest states, because DoomFart the Japanese minmin is in attendance
With ultrank discourse back on the timeline, I think it’s time to consider the one solution to level the playing field with Japan’s geographic and transportation infrastructure advantages: Counting mod enabled online brackets for the rankings.

They should do this for the world cup after the knockout phase. Makes it so there’s always something for a team to play for in groups and the opponent selection process would probably be the only non active sporting event that could surpass the NFL Draft in terms of spectacle.
The intersection of smash with AI/Crypto/tech bro culture is absolutely fascinating to me. Like is Crunch so stuck in the silicon valley bubble that he thought a majority of a community w/ such a huge emphasis on art and human expression wouldn’t see this as a slap in the face?

two nickles now in a one month period for large midwest events seeding a top gnw into a Sephiroth relatively early into their bracket path. Surely a fun coincidence.
Proud to announce I am #OPTINGIN as the #1 player in Indiana for Q3 2026. I hope the community can come together to support me in this decision.
I feel that it needs to be pointed out that the way tournaments are structured absolutely influences how statistics are used/misused. Double elimination as a format is inherently stretches/highlights skill differences at the highest levels and shrinks/obscures at the lowest.
For lower level players however, the low sample size they get in brackets can make it frustrating to feel their improvement when they continually lose to the same rungs of players, without much opportunity to get tournament sets with players around their skill level.
I have a lot of issues with the arguments presented in this thread that are longer than I can fit in a single tweet so I thought I'd respond with a thread of my own.
I love that to its core the smash scene has become a home for so many members of marginalized communities. Smash should be for everyone. In order for it to be that way there is no room for crypto, imperialism, or those who try to erase the marginalized from public life.
