Another Russian ballistic missile attack came in several waves overnight, and once again, there was no early warning from our partners. They again targeted energy facilities and infrastructure, but a medical clinic, a school, a metro station, and ordinary residential buildings were also damaged. In total, the Russians launched 16 ballistic missiles in a deliberate attack on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The Russians also launched more than 200 drones of various types, including jet-powered “shaheds,” with attacks spanning from the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions to the Volyn, Rivne, and Odesa regions. Sadly, there are casualties. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Those who were injured are receiving assistance. Overnight and this morning, Russia attacked energy facilities in the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Ternopil, Odesa, and Rivne regions. In this one night alone, more than 10 energy infrastructure facilities were damaged, and the lights went out for at least 550,000 families. Repair crews are working at the sites. Ukraine never wanted this war, and we have welcomed literally EVERY attempt by our partners to bring this war to a dignified end. We have responded positively to EVERY ceasefire proposal. Russia's response, time and again, has been ballistic missiles, “shaheds,” and killings. Putin not only doesn't want to end this war – he doesn't even want to take any steps toward de-escalation. EVERY ONE of our partners has experienced this firsthand when they heard Russia's refusals. And it is crucial to call things what they are. To call the aggressor an aggressor and help Ukraine defend lives. When deliveries of missiles for Ukraine's air defense are blocked while Russia is granted relief or delays in sanctions, this is, unfortunately, a denial of reality on the part of our partners. The reality is that the war continues, and it continues solely because of Russian strikes and Russia's desire to drag this war out. I thank everyone who recognizes this reality and helps Ukraine!

One of the darkest and most reprehensible ideas of our time is the notion that those who do the right thing by helping a country under attack are somehow responsible for the war and the suffering it causes.
It struck me recently that people who support the endless Ukraine-Russia was because they "want to punish the aggressor" make the same mistake as people who during the Vietnam war supported the endless war "because if Vietnam falls, all of SE Asia will be communust". In both cases they were wrong because they failed to look at a broader picture and at the future.

We have elected loathsome vermin, sociopathically wrapping their malice in a mantle of virtue. "I will stop helping Putin murder your children if you just surrender to him. You refuse? I knew it! Warmongering enemy of peace!"
BREAKING!! A ballistic missile attack hit Kyiv just now with zero early warning, Ukrainian sources confirm to me “There was again no early warning about the ballistic attack on Kyiv just now”

“There is an entire MAGA industrial complex that has risen up in the Trump era that thinks it has permanently won arguments, when it has really just drafted behind Trump and Trumpism. They’ve pushed through open doors and doors knocked off their hinges by Trump, and think they’ve won an intellectual argument. But the midterms look poised to deal a massive blow to that, in part because their arguments for protectionism, industrial policy, and mass deportation have not yielded anything like the “golden age” that was promised. I find the idea that these guys—the self-styled intellectuals, the jabroni remora apparatchiks, and the get-rich-while-the-getting-is-good grifters, alike—will be well situated to win arguments on the right or anywhere else in the post-Trump era very implausible. Because the record of their tenure, in terms of policy and politics, won’t look like a golden age to anybody.” - @JonahDispatch

Sanctions relief will continue. I think the diesel deal and the move regarding the Lindsey Graham Act are not the end of it. Unfortunately. It’s unfortunate because we all had great respect for Lindsey. He devoted his life to America. We had an excellent relationship with him. And shortly before the tragedy, Lindsey was in Ukraine. He always supported us very strongly and pushed for as much assistance to Ukraine as possible. It’s difficult without him, I’ll be honest. I want to thank both Democrats and Republicans who supported his bill. That was a major victory: this truly bipartisan support. And now, the decision to undo all of this, to block all of it, seems wrong to me. And it definitely helps only the Russians. It only fuels their satisfaction and their desire to keep killing people. This certainly does not stop the war. From answers to journalists’ questions. (1/3)

I used to be a great admirer of Marco Rubio. What a terrible price he has paid to be part of this administration.

The families of the 1,180 soldiers who died in action from European NATO member states and international partners say: Thank you, Mr. Secretary.
Hegseth on Afghanistan: I was a captain in Afghanistan, and we would go to the headquarters in Kabul, and there would be 50 flags at the headquarters. It was a beautiful thing to see 50 different countries contributing to the NATO alliance and the ISAF mission there. Except there were like maybe five that contributed. It was actually closer to one or two that, by the end, were actually involved in kinetic operations. In fact, the ISAF patch, we would joke that it meant "I Saw Americans Fighting."

Just saying. #France #Berlin
