My first big project as a Parks Manager is underway. Cambridge Park revitalization. New drainage system, irrigation system, tree lined commuter pathway, and re-grassing. Leaving a planned space for a future playground or community garden.
Pretty cool feeling: 3 of my former Assistants have landed their 1st Superintendent jobs in the last month.
Officially my last day at Kamloops Golf and Country Club. I started 21 years ago as a back shop kid and spent the last 11 as Superintendent. It has truly been a 2nd home for me. I grew up here, met my wife here, brought my kids to play here. I will miss it. Tough to say goodbye.
#turftwitter please welcome our @KamloopsGCC irrigation tech @kyledpitts to twitter. He will be starting his Turfgrass Management program at Olds College this January. Please give him a follow, as he will be someone you want to keep an eye on!
1/2 - I'm not usually one to make announcements, but since people are asking... I have accepted a position as Parks Manager for the City of Campbell River. It was a difficult decision to leave KGCC, but we felt it was such a great opportunity for our family and myself as a human.
We had a great experience hosting the Canadian All Abilities Championship. There were many incredible players who have overcome so many challenges, it was amazing to see. @GolfCanada @KamloopsGCC
We are looking for an experienced Golf Course Mechanic at Kamloops Golf Club. Some good perks including benefits, and I hear the boss is an okay guy. DM me for more details.

Bunker renovations that reduce the frequency and severity of washouts will extend the life of bunker sand, save countless hours of repair, and minimize disruption to play after a storm.
Driving range tee extension project. It was a challenge to complete while trying to manage the regular course maintenance this spring. Definitely learned a few things along the way, but proud of how it turned out.
New flags and wooden pins, really add to the golf experience. @KamloopsGCC #kgcc1914

Maybe I'm just old school, but when did we decide to start calling golf course maintenance "agronomy"? We certainly use science in our jobs, but we are not scientists. I understand promoting ourselves as professionals, but why pretend to be something we're not?
