This July, two key members of our project have presented papers at the annual BAVS Conference (British Association for Victorian Studies) at Liverpool John Moores University: our co-PI Dr. María Isabel Romero Ruiz, and PhD candidate Isaac Linton Clewes.
In his paper, Isaac Linton Clewes analyses how Oscar Wilde's character of Sibyl Vane may be reclaimed as an autonomous figure and a female artist.
This conference was a highly productive meeting of the minds, analysing and reinterpreting the past in order to address contemporary concerns. Thank you to all who were present! #humanities #victorian #neovictorian #QueerStudies

We are back with more updates on our team's work! 📚✍🏼
Last week, four members of our team presented their research at the 2026 ESSE Conference hosted by the University of Santiago de Compostela, where they had an amazing and fruitful time among friends and colleagues.
👉🏻 And last but not least, Pedro Mora-Ramírez presented his talk "Masculinities in Prison: The Case of Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us."
🤗 Huge congratulations to everyone who attended and took part in this thought-provoking conference! 🥳🍀 #Transformations #Narratives #AnglophoneStudies
