Nature-based solutions like the reedbeds we’ve built with @WiltsWildlife are helping us improve river quality. They naturally filter and further clean waste water before it’s returned to the environment. They’re so great, there's a day dedicated to them! #WorldWetlandsDay

This is the most simple explanation of why everyone is feeling very tired after two years of this. (From @diamondgzrblog who is committed to old-school blogging and therefore always great.)

Work from home but go to the office party. That’s a real thing that was said by the leader of the country this evening. Merry Christmas.

It's really bleak in the NHS right now. Hospitals on black alert, ICUs filled with Covid, major cancer surgeries being cancelled. Please obey the new Plan B rules. Not because that man told you to. Because *we* need you to - so we can help & save as many patients as possible 🙏

The masks, sweet Jesus. It's so basic. They help a bit and they're perfectly convenient. And yet the government somehow managed to get itself into a micro-brain culture war over them. Fucking unthinkable. The pure, triple-distilled idiocy of it.

I’m not asking for businesses to stay shut. Just that we could do with wearing masks in shops and public transport a little longer while we get everyone vaccinated. Otherwise ‘learning to live with’ Covid is, in truth, learning to let certain people die with it.
We have one of the highest rates of Covid in the world and around 120 people are dying a week. Is that the price we’re prepared to pay so we can take our masks off in shops and trains?

There is nothing very promising about the covid data. We're about three quarters of the way through the vaccine programme and they're giving up - let the rest just get it. Dangerous and wrong in my view.
Cab min Robert Jenrick says Covid data “very promising" ahead of July 19. "We’re going to now move into a period where there won't be legal restrictions, the state won't be telling you what to do". Confirms face masks will no longer be compulsory - and he’ll stop wearing one
