During the SpaceX earnings call today, Elon Musk says the company will attempt to recover both the booster and ship on Flight 15. Targeting next month. Believes success "is more likely than not."
Congrats to @JAXA_En on MMX! By returning samples from Phobos, Mars’ larger moon, the mission will add to decades of Mars exploration and help shape future discoveries and potential crewed missions to the Red Planet.

TERENCE TAO:
“OpenAI did make a major breakthrough [on quasi-Riemann Hypothesis] the biggest advance on the subject in 50 years. A massive new zero-free region, very clever new technique.
Well, it’s sort of a combination of three or four existing ideas, arranged in a very unusual way. It’s not something I think any single mathematician alive would have come up with.
I think if you got the right people to work together and locked them in a room, they might have come up with this after lots of trial and error.”

This is wrong. China to this day doesn’t have a Mythos-equivalent model. Mythos was trained in February. They are at a minimum 9 months behind and have been consistently since the release of DeepSeek in Jan 2025

Muse Spark Open -- weights releasing today -- runs great on new Mac Studios thanks to work with @johnternus and Apple.
Gemini 4 Argon from @Google on ARC-AGI (Verified):
- ARC-AGI-3: 97.5%, $4.8K (provider adapter harness), 49.8%, $5.8K (standard harness)
- ARC-AGI-2: 91.3%, $0.32/task
- ARC-AGI-1: 98.5%, $0.16/task
Google DeepMind is the second frontier AI lab to score above 95% on ARC-AGI-3.

Today we’re releasing Muse Spark Open, the most capable US open-weight model to date.
Built for coding and agentic work, it excels at long-horizon tasks, complex software engineering, and multi-step reasoning.
Key Model Specs:
→ 816B total / 42B active parameters
→ 1M token context window
→ Natively multimodal across text, image, video, audio

interpretability might be the most important scientific problem in the world right now, as I don't think we can solve alignment if we don't know what we're building. I think I have good news about it. I co-authored early work in mechanistic interpretability at OpenAI and came away pessimistic, because neural networks appeared to fold into arbitrary tangled knots. years later, I started openai's first large-scale automated interpretability project, finding about 2% of neurons legible with the primitive tools we had
with modern agentic tools and a much closer look, the picture looks totally different. the vast majority in models up to trillions of parameters are legible, and their circuits beautiful. many famous examples of tangled neurons turned out to be misunderstood. The roadblocks I expected mostly aren't there. I now think ambitious interpretability will be solved by the time we need it most, and possibly quite soon, as automated scientists keep improving. it may be a bitter lesson for interpretability: the simple thing, at absurd scale, works

"Our initial evaluation suggested that GPT-6-Astra's score was in the late eighties followed closely by Opus 5.5. But, as we started to investigate the mistakes that the models might have made, the models, especially Astra, insisted that they were right and that it was the expert-supplied answers that were erroneous. When we went back to the experts it turned out, in multiple instances, that that the experts found some subtle errors buried deep inside their calculations. As they revised their answers, Astra's score started to inch up and it finally ended up with 98% (49/50)."

The first clear sighting of a rogue agent fleet from China using open weights models. Like the OpenAI swarms, the goal was seemingly AIs single-mindedly doing research (apparently mapping the most-used entrances to parks in China). Harbinger of the future swarmcha.se/posts/chinese-ag…

Multiple reports from Ukraine this morning that the US has severely limited Starlink connectivity for the Ukrainian military, disrupting drone operations.
Per the Ukrainian 7th Corps, drones have started dropping connections when flown over 60 mi/h (100 km/h).

Had some early access to Muse Wonder, but did not get a chance to use it a ton, yet it seems like a good model from limited test
Perhaps more impressive, compare the progress since April in my drowned neogothic city twigl shader test. Very fast progress from Meta in a short time
