🇬🇪Georgian Dream is Europe’s most un-democratic and human rights-violating force currently in power. Today, they announced new amendments to the "Law on Grants" that criminalize receiving foreign support, restrict political participation, and outlaw core democratic activity 1/12

🇬🇪George Sankidze’s message is painfully clear: Russia🇷🇺 has won Georgia—for now. Western inaction has a price. The failure to impose targeted sanctions on Ivanishvili and his enablers, who’ve hijacked every democratic institution in Georgia, sealed this outcome. What could’ve been stopped, wasn’t. Now we’re left with the bitter truth: a captured state, a silenced opposition, and a society cornered by despair. The only real deterrent—early and strategic pressure on the oligarch’s financial network from the Uk and EU—never came. Instead, silence. If we want to salvage any hope, the West must acknowledge this defeat—not with platitudes, but with resolve. We can still do something. That means: – Freezing assets. – Cutting offshore lifelines. – Supporting real civic resilience, not cosmetic diplomacy. Because without bold action now, the next “Georgia” will fall too.
In Georgia, as painful as it is to admit, the Russian strategy has prevailed. Ivanishvili has taken full control of the state—its machinery, resources, and economy. The opposition parties are fragmented, weak, resourceless, under surveillance, persecuted, and have largely lost the trust even of the protesters. What began as large protests has faded into daily crowds of 500–1,000 blocking the main avenue. Many—though not all—feel helpless and hopeless. The opposition has lost on all fronts. That’s harsh, but it’s the reality. Grow up, deal with it. The global context isn’t helping. In fact, it’s making things worse. Europe and Ukraine—on whose success Georgia’s future depends—now appear to be on the losing side, cornered by Russia, China, and unpredictable US. All of it plays directly into Ivanishvili’s hands. We are witnessing tectonic global shifts—economic, financial, and geopolitical. And Georgia will not be spared. The most pragmatic (if unpleasant) course in Georgia may be to weather the storm, endure the crushing transition, preserve what can be preserved, and try to change the regime later. The risk, of course, is that by then Georgia may be even more deeply trapped in Russia’s grip, making regime change harder, not easier. But it’s hard to argue that such change is any more likely now. They say don’t change horses midstream—this may be one of those moments. What Georgia needs is the rise of a new, non-confrontational political opposition—a credible elite that can build, mature, and position itself by 2028. Even then, the challenge will be steep. But this path will almost certainly require some cooperation with the current regime—and that’s unavoidable if they want to stay in the game they claim to want to win. And even that is a secondary priority—after the urgent need to strengthen the military, bolster defence, and increase economic self-sufficiency. Winter is coming!

🇬🇪GEORGIA WARNING: What’s happening is no longer a temporary backslide. It’s a coordinated campaign to dismantle democracy, capture institutions, and reorient Georgia’s geopolitical future. 🧵And Europeans politely ask them to “return to the European path" ... 1/22

For nearly 3 months, the people of #Georgia have been protesting in favour of a future in the EU & against the course of the 🇬🇪 leadership. They continue to face intimidation, arrests & violence. Today, 🇩🇪 imposed further entry bans on 🇬🇪 officials responsible for the crackdown.

A huge scandal—a man running pro-Russian propaganda in Georgia was able to operate in the UK unchecked for years. Now, the UK Supreme Court has ruled against him, ordering him to pay $170M for “commercial conspiracy.” Time to sanction Rukhadze and his oligarch boss Ivanishvili.

For the umpteenth time, I suggest the democratic leaders refrain from talking about peace, peace talks, negotiations, truce, ceasefire, and bla bla bla. Please speak of victory and defeat. There can't be true peace as long as russia is not defeated. Let's not fool ourselves.

Well Donald, you have certainly woken a real sleeping giant now. The incoming German Chancellor has had enough of your f*cking nonsense. The most efficient manufacturing nation on earth has now officially joined the party BIG TIME. I am so proud of our German friends. They are creating a €500 billion ($536 billion) infrastructure fund in a tectonic spending shift to revamp the military and revive growth in Europe’s largest economy. And this is just for Germany. This decision to develop its economy around defence manufacturing will not only boost defence capabilities, it will turbocharge the economy in the mid term. Europe is now in the game in a way the US may well live to regret. 🎥 TikTok - @xmr.militaryx

This is what Ukraine's former nuclear shield looked like, which it gave up in exchange for security guarantees - for free, with nothing in return. And now one of the "security guarantors" is waging a full-scale war against Ukraine, while the other is demanding that it hand over territory and natural resources in exchange for further "security guarantees". Thank you america. Thank you trump. t.me/MirovichMedia/11405

In 2008, Russia invaded Georgia. We warned the world: appeasement only feeds aggression. They didn’t listen. Now, a French senator is saying what we’ve been shouting for 17 years.

All my life I’ve been preaching the danger of Russia to every foreigner I’ve been in touch with. I almost always received the “ugh, if only this Georgian would calm down, no one cares, and Russia is a receding power anyway” looks/vibes. I feel vindicated.
La Russie est devenue une menace pour la France et pour l’Europe.
