The president of the United States is extremely mentally ill and it’s putting all of our lives at risk. The 25th Amendment exists for a reason—we need to invoke it immediately.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us. —J.RR Tolkien on the decision that matters most

This is the best summary of the current geopolitical situation I have seen. Sir Alex Younger was head of MI6 between 2014 and 2020. Really worth watching.

I'm so sick of these so-called "undecided voters" with their "oh, I don't know enough about her." You know she didn't RAPE anyone. You know she wasn't convicted of 34 felonies. You know she hasn't been indicted on 88 charges. You know she doesn't want to be a dictator. You know she didn't incite insurrection. You also have a computer and/or a smartphone. You're a grown up, FFS. When you want to learn about "do masks work" or "caravans of scary immigrants, eating pets" you know how to Google that shit. Don't wait for others to spoon feed you information, do your own research! Go to her website! It's real easy: kamalaharris.com I'm sure there are probably a few real "undecided" people who have no internet access, don't own a TV, and have lived in a fucking cave on a deserted island for the past 10 years. But the rest of you? You have NO excuse. Stop looking for attention from journalists and pretending you "need more information." Just admit your head is up your ass.

Trump: “Get out and vote just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years it will be fixed. It'll be fine. You won't have to vote anymore...In four years you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good your not gonna have to vote.”

Thread: Oppenheimer was central to the Manhattan Project’s success and was a phenomenal and inspiring leader, but no one man could have made it work and it’s important to remember that it was still very much a team endeavor. Here are a few people whose key ideas made it possible:

Hi, I'm a dark matter physicist! We have lots of evidence for dark matter. A big one is the Cosmic Microwave Background, which has dark matter encoded into it. It is also necessary to explain the large scale structure we see in the Universe because there needs to be a type of matter that could clump together and form seeds early enough for the galaxies we see today, which regular matter couldn't do because of radiation pressure. The age of the Universe being twice its value today is far less plausible because it challenges very well-established theories such as ΛCDM (through which we find the age to be ~13.8 Gyr) that have been tried and tested. As well, variable coupling constants (which the claim is based on) is an idea that has not been supported experimentally, and would require a lot of evidence to back it because all our laws of physics are based on the coupling constants, and these laws explain everything we see. – at Santa Cruz, CA

Quantum Tunnelling in the Sun: ☀️ The Sun, like other stars, operates on nuclear fusion, with hydrogen atoms combining to form helium and releasing large amounts of energy in the process. However, the Sun's core temperature is not hot enough for this reaction to occur under normal circumstances. So how does the Sun shine? Quantum tunneling comes to the rescue. This bizarre quantum phenomenon allows particles to pass through barriers they wouldn't be able to under classical physics. In the Sun's core, quantum tunneling allows protons to get close enough for the strong nuclear force to fuse them into helium.

Albert Einstein's letter to Marie Curie, 1911: Prague, 23 November 1911 Highly esteemed Mrs. Curie Do not laugh at me for writing you without having anything sensible to say. But I am so enraged by the base manner in which the public is presently daring to concern itself with you that I absolutely must give vent to this feeling. However, I am convinced that you consistently despise this rabble, whether it obsequiously lavishes respect on you or whether it attempts to satiate its lust for sensationalism! I am impelled to tell you how much I have come to admire your intellect, your drive, and your honesty, and that I consider myself lucky to have made your personal acquaintance in Brussels. Anyone who does not number among these reptiles is certainly happy, now as before, that we have such personages among us as you, and Langevinil too, real people with whom one feels privileged to be in contact. If the rabble continues to occupy itself with you, then simply don't read that hogwash, but rather leave it to the reptile for whom it has been fabricated. With most amicable regards to you, Langevin, and Perrin, yours very truly, A. Einstein P.S. I have determined the statistical law of motion of the diatomic molecule in Planck's radiation field by means of a comical witticism, naturally under the constraint that the structure's motion follows the laws of standard mechanics. My hope that this law is valid in reality is very small, though.
