Had fun helping with this event last night. Love to see other people trying it out and building real things with Devin @cognition - I’ve been using it to build some amazing things myself.
It's a pleasure for me to be building an AI developer community in Waterloo, a place I grew up around.
Last night, devkick.com and @TheBarnWaterloo @jrodgers hosted a social and "ships for kicks" night on a Friday in August and the builder vibe was ripe with innovation and talent.
The aura of the 40 or so people that attended was impressive.
From the curious to the experienced, seeing builders discovering Devin's evolving stack and showing them how to use features that amazed them, made me proud to be an ambassador.
A few features that they were truly amazed by:
- SWE 1.7 speed, and quality vs cost (Free!)
- MacOS containers being spun up in seconds
- Breadth of LLMs offered (From Deepseek, to Fable)
- Option for local and cloud agent sessions
Thanks to @dabit3 for your support, and @cognition @DevinAI for building such an excellent product that wows even the most sophisticated builders in the world.

I've joined @cognition as the @devindesktop regional Ambassador for the Toronto–Waterloo corridor, plus Hamilton and London..…out here in Southern Ontario 🇨🇦
If you don't know them, they make Devin, one of the first AI software engineers.
You give it a task and it writes the code, tests it, and opens a PR. Their editor, Devin Desktop, lets you run a whole fleet of these agents at once, and it's become one of my favourite tools to build with.
My focus now is growing the builder community out here. If you're local, come say hi..meetups and demos are on the way.

3 to an annoying pulverizer (missed it by like 4 blocks)
1 to a slowed transaction as it kept getting pushed back and I went to sleep thinking it would go through.
It's super fun to create cinematic-looking images, edit them, and retexture them to change their look and feel.
