For model calibration (esp logistic reg), does anyone know of a statistical investigation of the properties of the resulting calibrated predictions (i.e. the probability distr)? #statistics #rstats

tidymodels has long supported parallelizing model fits across CPU cores. The XGBoost and LightGBM engines have their own tools to parallelize model fits. Should tidymodels users should use tidymodels' implementation, the engines', or both? simonpcouch.com/blog/2024-05…

We are working on postprocessing tasks for tidymodels. This is new methodological ground; we’d like feedback on our ideas. We have a placeholder name for a data set and could use suggestions/feedback there (we like 🥔). #rstats #MachineLearning blog.aml4td.org/posts/data-u…

As part of his work on WebR, @gwstagg and @_lionelhenry have done some great work to get flang to compile Fortran to WebAssembly. Read all about it here! gws.phd/posts/fortran_wasm/ And here it is running a neural network to classify numbers in real time, as they're being written.

Next week, I'm interviewing Dr. @hadleywickham — Chief Scientist at @posit_pbc (formerly RStudio), bestselling author, and creator of the "tidyverse" suite of essential R packages (incl. dplyr, ggplot2, tidyr). Got questions for him? In addition to the above, Hadley: • Is adjunct professor of statistics at Stanford University, Rice University and The University of Auckland. • Has written seminal books on R programming for O'Reilly, Springer and CRC Press, including the mega-bestselling "R for Data Science". • Has received a number of prestigious awards for his invaluable contributions to statistical computing. The full suite of tidyverse core packages consists of: • ggplot2 • dplyr • tidyr • readr • purrr • tibble • stringr • forcats The SuperDataScience Podcast is available on all major podcasting platforms and a video version is on YouTube. Hadley's episode will likely be #779 and be released on April 30th. #superdatascience #datascience #rlanguage #statistics #ml #opensource

A whole bunch of tidymodels releases just made it to #rstats CRAN! One major addition is a set of tools for assessing model fairness, designed to help practitioners understand potential harms that could arise from a machine learning workflow. Read more: tidyverse.org/blog/2024/03/t…

You have a direct line into our prioritization process!
Every couple years, the #rstats tidymodels team puts out a user survey to help us better prioritize what we'll work on next. The results of this survey led to the {agua}, {stacks}, and {spatialsample} pkgs, among others. Our newest survey is up--take it! tidyverse.org/blog/2024/02/t…

A new version of the #rstats probably package is on CRAN. A minor update with a bug fix and under-the-hood changes for the upcoming tune version. But there’s finally a hex logo (thanks to @theotheredgar) so we have that going for us. Which is nice. probably.tidymodels.org/
