$ASTS says intermittent service will begin in key markets before year-end with access to ~100 MHz of U.S. spectrum including 55 MHz from carrier partners and 45 MHz from Ligado. The focus now shifts to getting more BlueBird satellites into orbit as AST targets 5,600 U.S. coverage cells by year-end from ~3,000 today with continuous service planned for 2027.

Did you know that PPG made aircraft cockpit and passenger windows? In fact, @PPG has announced a $70 million investment to expand its aerospace transparencies manufacturing operations in Huntsville, Alabama, in response to growing demand. The project includes leasing and developing a new 112,000-square-foot facility to accommodate production support functions, freeing up additional manufacturing space at its existing plant. The expansion is part of a broader multiyear investment program designed to increase production capacity and improve operational efficiency across commercial, military, and general aviation markets. PPG has manufactured aerospace transparencies in Huntsville for more than 55 years, and the investment will also provide room for future equipment and production growth.

This week's #MemberMonday features The Blackhawk Group, which recently announced an expansion of its aircraft sales and service capabilities through a new agreement with Tecnam. @BlackhawkXP company @FinnoffA has been named the exclusive stocking dealer for the @Tecnam P2012 series throughout the western United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, while Blackhawk Performance Centers in Arizona, Colorado, and Alaska have been designated Authorized Tecnam Service Centers. The nine-seat, twin-engine piston P2012 is designed for a variety of missions, including passenger transport, cargo, medical evacuation, and special operations. The agreement expands The Blackhawk Group's portfolio of aircraft sales, maintenance, and support services while providing Tecnam operators with additional factory-authorized service locations.

BREAKING: The world's first subsea geothermal well has been drilled into an underwater volcano nearly a mile below the Pacific Ocean's surface by American startup @endurancegeo. 300 miles off Oregon's coast, the company installed a 3-ton geothermal generator on the seafloor, operated it remotely from Seattle via fiber-optic cables, and briefly produced more electricity than it consumed using heat from a nearby volcanic vent.

$IONQ NVIDIA just set a record in fault-tolerant quantum computing. And it was developed in the very center where IonQ's Superion 256 is headed. On Monday, NVIDIA announced the largest comprehensive simulation of a fault-tolerant quantum computing system to date: 104 qubits, run on 8,192 GPUs on JUPITER, Europe's first exascale supercomputer. It validates magic state cultivation, an approach that requires 90% fewer qubits than previous methods. The work did not start in Germany. An NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 system at the NVIDIA Accelerated Quantum Research Center (NVAQC) served as the development platform, scaling tests from four GPUs to hundreds before moving to JUPITER. That is the same place IonQ is going. In September, IonQ announced it will be the first on-premise quantum computing deployment at NVAQC: a Superion 256 system directly linked with an NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 via NVQLink, with workloads orchestrated by CUDA-Q. Installation is scheduled for next year. Jensen Huang: "Useful quantum computing will require fantastically complex, fault-tolerant systems - and understanding how they behave at scale is essential to building them." NVIDIA is building the classical side of fault tolerance. IonQ will be the quantum computer sitting right next to it. nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/n… #IonQ #NVIDIA #QuantumComputing
$NVDA just ran a record 104-qubit fault-tolerant quantum simulation using 8,192 GPUs at Europe's JUPITER supercomputer validating a technique that could require 90% fewer physical qubits. This comes as $GOOGL advances same approach on actual quantum hardware and Anthropic uses AI to design more efficient quantum circuits bringing hardware development, AI and classical simulation closer together.

Something we've noticed lately is that most slop projects try to tackle one of a handful of "problems" that aren't actually problems in robotics. It seems like LLMs have a stock answer to the prompt, "build me a robotics company, make no mistakes." – at San Francisco, CA

Replying to @elonmusk
@elonmusk What would be doable with nuclear energy regarding thrusters. Surely there must be a way to make a motor that can sustain insanely fast rotations, and tanks that can resist being filled and emptied countless times? I admit it sounds extremely difficult, but is it possible according to current physics (if we allow for discovering/synthesizing nrw materials)?

ANTHROPIC COMMITS 5% OF ITS SHARES TO PUBLIC BENEFIT FUND, WITH ADDITIONAL PLEDGES TIED TO VALUATION GROWTH Anthropic announced the creation of the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, designed to support charitable initiatives and address the broader societal impact of AI, including its effects on jobs. The initial equity contribution is subject to stockholder approval. The board may also allocate an additional 2% of shares for every 50% increase in the company’s valuation above an undisclosed baseline. Anthropic says its total public-benefit commitments now represent roughly 20% of company equity when combined with its founders’ existing pledge to donate 80% of their personal stakes and its employee donation-matching program. The company has already committed $200M toward studying and addressing AI’s impact on employment. The fund will operate as a wholly owned LLC, with its shares prohibited from being used for lobbying or political contributions.
JUST IN: Anthropic pledges 5% of its shares to a public benefit fund and commits to additional 2% pledges for every 50% valuation rise.

Galvanick (Joshua Steinman) 30 Days of Hard Tech - Day 9 🇺🇸 Had to give Joshua a call to double to check that it is indeed a good morning and that we are definitely going to win "we have essentially built an industrial system of systems that makes our way of life. That's water, power, sewer, transportation, manufacturing, telecommunications. That entire meta infrastructure runs on industrial systems that are all but completely open to attack." "We call it OT, not IT. IT being, like, your laptop, OT is operational technology. The world is OT all the way down. If your OT stuff goes down, it's gonna be a bad month, and in some cases, it'll be a bad few years" "CrowdStrike's a $100 billion company, depending on the day. And CrowdStrike only does IT cybersecurity. So where's the OT CrowdStrike? I think someone's gonna build it. And I think right now, we're the only company that can."

Warcraft Fans, rejoice--Azeroth comes to life World of Warcraft has teamed up with China's AheadForm to bring a Skyborne Elf character into the real world. Pale blue hair, pointed ears, lifelike skin, gaze tracking and subtle facial expressions bring the fantasy character to life. Founded by Yuhang Hu, AheadForm is developing robots that learn facial movements through self-supervised learning, linking motor actions, speech and human expressions. In one research study, a bionic robot began responding to a human smile about 839 milliseconds before it appeared. The goal--bionic humanoid robots that look and interact more like us.
