In a country with 330 million people and only two political parties, you need to be able to cooperate with people who you don’t agree with about everything which is hard if one faction insists all disagreement is a form of corruption.

At minimum, we should note that if a Democratic administration had a White House press secretary who had worked for a Chinese law firm in Beijing for years, we would already have a Dinesh D’Souza documentary, a special episode of Tucker Carlson, a week’s worth of programming from Glenn Beck, and about a hundred Donald Trump social media posts about it.

Mamdani: There is no explanation for these tactics. There is no explanation for federal officers firing this many rounds into a car that has a five year old in the car. Look at how many people live right here. This is a residential neighborhood. We are right here by a subway.  And the pretext of ICE is, in their words, to keep this country safe. How is it keeping everyone safe to have, as you just heard from the police commissioner, individuals wearing construction vests in masks with long guns? Residents have no idea if these are law enforcement agents, or if they are simply attacking someone on the street. And when it comes to ICE, it begs the question, what's the difference? There is no explanation for this.

Amazing. The enrollment in Seattle Public Schools is the same as it was in 2014, but there are an extra 1000 full-time employees on the payroll, and the budget has doubled. All while test scores have declined considerably.

One funny thing about the environmentalist groups who don’t like permitting reform is that, well, of course you don’t like it. You’re the people who abuse NEPA and cause the problems the bill is trying to solve. Drunk drivers don’t like bills cracking down on drunk driving either

I don’t know how any Senator looks at this treatment of Whitehouse and Heinrich and sees any upside to working with these groups anymore. WH, especially, has been THEIR GUY, and they’re selling him out the minute he gets to the 2 yd line because some degree of compromise is reqd

This is batshit. Sens Whitehouse and Heinrich aren’t perceived to be environmental champions. They ARE champions and negotiated a deal that is big net-benefit for clean. Opponents of the deal need to do a lot more reflection on what they’re actually fighting for.
Scoop: Enviros held a call Thurs in which progressive opponents tried to rally fence-sitters against the permitting bill. I obtained the transcript. "We really have to have a pretty clear agreement by all parties that this is an effort to stop this bill, not to make it better"

It’s time for House & Senate Dems to recognize that environmental & leftist activists are miserable obstructionists that would rather retain their power & influence by manufactured anger and fear than ever see incremental progress

This is the thing. Democrats arguing to renegotiate permitting reform after the midterms know that Trump would never sign such a bill. It’s a play to draft messaging bills in 2027 in the hopes of passage under a hypothetical Dem trifecta in 2029. It’s unbelievably stupid.
Can someone (pref someone who agrees with Rep Huffman) explain the working theory here? Dems likely win the House. Ok. The bill still needs the Senate and the President (Rs in the WH thru Jan 2029) How exactly does waiting until next year get a better result? Is 2029 the play?

Every other DC Trade Association is posting rather wordy statements about the American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026 - otherwise known as the Permitting Bill to you and me. We here at USOGA value your time so here's our official statement. "Pass the frickin' bill so we can start building things again."

You should in fact read this. The core idea is that no deal should ever be done that gives any wins to the fossil fuel industry, meaning that no politically realistic deal will ever be good enough and we'll just never get the transmission changes we need to build renewables.
