AJ Bell's new logo went live Sept 5. The bell in it had been running as a campaign device since 2023, and awareness tripled to 60.2% before anyone redrew the mark. The identity ratified the positioning instead of announcing it. lnkd.in/p/dzCkm4km #BrandStrategy
Made a sequel to my fake movie about AI design slop.
3 unbroken 30-second AI shots. Same hero, same monster. This time the villain goes minimalist, and the man who only deletes has to add one thing back.
The AI narrator ad-libbed a word that doesn't exist. We coped.
Sound on.
I made a movie trailer about a hero who saves the world from bad AI design.
The AI misspelled the word BRAND while making it.
Twice.
45 seconds. Three acts. A villain made entirely of gradient goo and glassmorphism. The hero never throws a punch. He deletes.
The production notes wrote themselves. Every surface I let the model write on, it invented a new alphabet. Keyboard keys. Menu bars. The tower that was supposed to say BRAND said DRAND, which sounds like a Web3 startup two pivots from shutting down.
So the final cut follows the same rule I give every brand system: remove everything that doesn't have a job. Blank keycaps. One word per frame. One gold accent.
That's the honest state of AI in creative work right now. Superhuman at spectacle, needs adult supervision on the details. The supervision is the job.
Sound on. Sequel depends on box office.
Bob's Red Mill took Bob out of the logo. He died two years ago.
The redesign is sharp. The decision is a mistake. Anyone can buy a custom typeface. Nobody can buy Bob.
Modernize the kerning. Keep the man.

Everyone's picking a side on AI in ads. They're all wrong.
McDonald's Netherlands didn't fail because AI made the visuals. It failed because nobody with taste killed the file.
That's the whole job. Always has been.

Spotify didn't redesign their logo. They wrapped it in a disco ball for 20 years.
The internet is mad. The internet is also wrong.
That outrage is exactly the data Spotify wanted. The flat design era is cracking. linkedin.com/posts/tomokeefe…

Aerie's anti-AI campaign is great marketing. But when "we don't use AI" becomes the message, that's positioning, not authenticity. The real question: do you have the systems to keep your brand consistent no matter how it's made? linkedin.com/pulse/you-cant-… #BrandStrategy #TheBrandWhisperer
5 ways small businesses handle customer support:
1. Answer everything yourself (burnout speedrun)
2. Hire part-time staff (great until 5pm)
3. Build a FAQ page (that nobody reads)
4. Install a generic chatbot (confidently wrong)
5. AI trained on YOUR content (actually works)
I broke down why #5 is different from the rest —
and why most people write it off without really understanding it.
