Tomorrow is publication day for ANTI-FASCIST ECONOMICS! 🌹🌾
I wrote this book so that everyone can read it. I’m delighted that Booklist describes it as "a vision of economics centred on affordability" that’s accessible to all.

Since 1979, American productivity has risen 93.7%. Hourly pay has risen 32.7%.
The pie got bigger, but workers got a smaller slice.
I tracked down the UK data and found the same pattern.

This set of quotes from @IsabellaMWeber’s new Anti-Fascist Economics really says it all
Looks like @John_T_Harvey will need to add a few more chapters to the next edition of his book ‘Contending Perspectives in Economics: A Guide to Contemporary Schools of Thought’🤔

The Catholic church has a thing called Papal infallibility stating that the pope is preserved from the possibility of error when he teaches a doctrine of faith.
It seems we now also have "economist infallibility" when it comes to the doctrine of faith in "economic growth" preserving neo-liberal economists from the possibility of error,
... & so we continue to grow, & grow, & grow,
even as the earth crumbles under the crushing weight of their infallible ideology.

Exactly. If you actually create the financial statements for a DSGE model, you quickly see that what is going on is incredibly simple (with micro foundations and various shocks added such that the math itself isn't simple, obviously), unrealistic, and frankly uninteresting.

Come on. That just feels like a random uninformed dismissal
When Post Keynesians say Stock Flow Consistency of the Godley Lavoie tradition. They mean explicitly matching assets and liabilities and flows across different balance sheets in different time periods
Stocks are state variables that feed in to flows (interest payments, capital gains/losses, leverage, liquidity constraints).
Endogenous money happens through balance sheet expansions on both the assets and liabilities side. You don’t need to invent exogenous money supply.
You don’t need to invent shocks. Sectoral balances. Solvency and liquidity can cause Minsky style instabilities by themselves
In contrast the DSGE stock flow consistency is tautological. Flows balance. But stocks are not state variables between different sectoral positions.
And yes you are right. We need a stochastic sectoral balances model with heterogeneous agents (with their own balance sheets) to model the economy.
I mean if you can accept the fairy tale of a model with one representative agent representing the whole of economy when the root of economic interaction is agents with their own expectations and balance sheet positions trying to trade things with each other
The intellectual arrogance of mainstream economics given the last 50 years of unclear models and predictions continues to stagger me

Every economics student should be tied to a chair and forced to study Godley and Lavoie’s Monetary Economics cover to cover, in painstaking detail.

Policymakers the world over will use this to shape their affordability agendas. Congratulations to my friend @IsabellaMWeber on another important book! penguinrandomhouse.com/books…

Thank you so much Mariana for your support and all your trailblazing work for the common good!
Massive congrats to my friend @IsabellaMWeber for her excellent new book out in the UK this week. We need it today more than ever. As many of us have been arguing, a different economy is possible—-but it must be fought for. Also great review in the @guardian today: theguardian.com/business/202…
