Ten pages of Swafford on Mahler was far superior to an entire book by Lebrecht on the subject

Watched Andrei Rublev today. Definitely worth the 3 hours. Looking forward to Solaris next, but I want to read the book first. I really like Tarkovsky’s fondness for white birch trees, and of using the same actors in many of his films.
Have finally begun my exploration of Tarkovsky's ouevre. Ivan's Childhood was good, going to watch Andrei Rublev tomorrow

Stealing this idea, if Houllebecq hasn't already
Writing an alternative history novel where Ernst Rohm thwarts Hitlers Night of the Long Knives and establishes a sprawling homo fascist dictatorship but five hundred pages in realizing it’s just amphetamine fueled gay snuff porn

Not really impressed with Gardiner’s writings on Bach, perhaps Schweitzer or Wolff’s accounts will be more my speed

Going to watch Death in Venice (1971) for the Mahler and for a glimpse at my future

Watching Tar again because Cate Blanchett is that freaking good in it

Mahler and Dostoevsky were a great way to start the day

Wanting to lean back into my faith but finding myself unworthy, which is exactly why I should lean back into my faith. Being truly repentant is an evergreen issue, however.

Wikipedia calls Ken Russell’s composer biopics “offbeat,” but I can’t agree. These films capture the essence of their subjects tremendously. Mahler (1974) followed by The Music Lovers (1971) have been balm on my soul after an incredibly trying week.

My favorite internet cycle is when Lee’s bio is making its rounds
Sir Christopher Lee met Rasputin's assassins, was a RAF intelligence officer in WWII, spoke 9 languages, was Ian Fleming's cousin, and was the only actor in “The Lord of the Rings” to have met J.R.R. Tolkien. He was also married to the same woman for over 50 years. What a man!

Despite its length, The Brothers Karamazov is truly a book to savor

Why watch ai slop when you can enjoy Tracy Chevalier’s 1999 novel about Girl instead?
Opus 5.5 imagined the moment Girl with a Pearl Earring was painted

Pie, too. A lot of pie on this show.
Twin Peaks is strange. There’s a lot of brown, copious references to coffee, and a great example of diegetic sound when Audrey is dancing alone in the diner in episode 3.
