You cannot chase safety and count on emptying yourself of your best work. You cannot pursue greatness and comfort at the same time. Commit today to stepping outside your comfort zone and set some goals to help you get there. In short, grow. ~Todd Henry
One huge mistake that leaders make is assuming that whatever motivates them also motivates everyone around them. Everyone is optimizing for something different, and that's the source of a ton of conflict.
Every time I start a meeting, I get
Zoom: "Want me to take notes?"
Notion: "No, no... me! Pick me!"
Plaud: "I'm just gonna go ahead and take notes. Tell me if you want me to stop."
Some app I forgot I installed: "I'm just gonna send all of these notes to a Russian server, OK?"

The photocopiers have gotten better and I’m now surrounded by people who can do wicked work with their digital Sharpies, but this is still the ethos. Thanks for the chat @toddhenry.
Can someone please invent a system you can toss autoresponder pitch emails into that will add the sender to automated pitch sequences for things they're not interested in? Bonus if it says "Just bumping this" a few times in the follow ups.
Today I learned that this is a real company (intentionally spoofed by Seinfeld) and that it is based a handful of miles from my home. 🤯 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Pet…

Rereading “Die Empty” by @toddhenry after a few years. (Amazing book btw). But it made me wonder why it’s not more normalized to take a similar mindset to where we live.
No one wants to wake up one day and say “who am I, why am I still here, and is it too late to leave?”
My chat with @lukeburgis about his excellent new book The One and the Ninety-Nine. player.captivate.fm/episode/…
OK @united - you’re winning me over. After a long time in arrival sitting on the tarmac waiting for our gate to open, your “take a breath - we’re holding your connecting flight, just please come directly to the gate” text was pitch perfect. Well done.
I’ve been releasing the same weekly podcast since Nov 2005. 21 years.
7 books, hundreds of keynotes and workshops later, I’m still grateful I didn’t give up in 2007 when it got super hard for a minute. I was SO close.
You know what I genuinely miss? Road atlases. Every person just had this 100 page book of maps in their car that they would pull out to figure out how to get places. I would pull it out just to explore maps of parts of the country. Just hits different than Google Maps.
So fun watching the undefeated run of my alma mater @miamiuniversity @MiamiOH_BBall and experiencing Millett Hall packed with 10k people. Also... some bar trivia... Miami is one of five schools with both a US President and a Super Bowl winning quarterback.

#352’s
Went Casey Kasem Top 40 today rather than basketball poll-ish Top 25…
This NOT a rank of best 1-40.
# is reflection of the order I wish they had become aware to me as an eager learn-it-all-share-it-all coach.
Not saying that Spy the Lie is a better book than Change Your Questions….
Am saying, I wish I had read it first and the others in between…
Many of these titles also introduced me to others from same author or genre.
You may find one their unlisted titles more influential in your current environment.
DM if you are stuck in some area and maybe can point you toward someone smarter than each of us!!
These are also great X follows @TimElmore @AnnieDuke @JoshuaMedcalf @kevineastman @janssenleader @dontennant

P.s. don’t listen song #352 unless you want it ear-worming you all day…
I'm doing some content revisions to The Accidental Creative and Die Empty for their next printings, and it's SO STRANGE to be back in my 2009 / 2012 mind. My writing style has morphed so much...
The @ATT trade-in credit use terms are like "On the first full moon of the third month, when the wind blows from the east, visit an AT&T store and apply your credit by whispering a Shakespeare sonnet into a paper cup. Terms and Conditions apply. Not valid in Idaho."
My wife just said watching the Bengals defense is like watching a bad video game where the defense is supposed to be bad and now I can’t unsee it 😂
Who are the truth tellers in your life? You need them before you realize you need them. By the time you realize it, it's likely too late.
