They never imagined they would need to learn how to extinguish a burning gas cylinder before the flames spread through an entire camp of tents!! The Sameer Project, in cooperation with the Civil Defense, is organizing a series of emergency preparedness sessions across our camps, here on October 12 teaching families how to prevent fires, respond to emergencies, and protect one another. These are survival skills no family should have been forced to learn. But until families can return to safe homes, we will do everything we can to keep them safe. We provided the fuel for the demonstration, lunch for the trainers, and refreshments for all the participants. Preparation, being ready for an emergency response, is the first line of defense in Gaza where catastrophes occur daily.
