Kemi Badenoch wants to exempt the family home from inheritance tax.
But that creates a perverse incentive for elderly people to *upsize* to save IHT.
That could double the cost of the policy, and push £100bn+ from savings into housing.

WTAF “American farmers, truckers, and businesses should not be left carrying the burden of a global diesel shortage.”
Umm.
Why is there a diesel shortage?
Which country’s president started a war that led to it?
Why should other nations share the burden for the US president’s policy disaster?
Under President Trump’s leadership, the United States is delivering on its commitments to help stabilize global energy markets. Our European partners should accelerate delivery on their existing commitments and make additional supplies immediately available to address ongoing disruptions. American farmers, truckers, and businesses should not be left carrying the burden of a global diesel shortage. America is doing its part. We look to our allies to match their commitments with action.

We need to be able to have a serious conversation about the consequences of mass uncontrolled immigration.

Stages in a Reform scandal:
1. This is a hit-job from the left / the establishment
2. We didn't do anything wrong, it's a hoax
3. There's a recording? Well, we didn't break any laws
4. We're going to hold an internal investigation
5. People who aren't Nigel Farage resign
6. Nigel Farage says the matter is closed

🔥 👏 @sarahjolney1 dismantles Mark François’s attempt to pose as Britain’s defence saviour.
Mark Francois’s defence of the Tory record:
“The Berlin Wall came down.”
“Everyone did it.”
“We began increasing spending after 2022.”
But Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. Sarah Olney asks the devastatingly obvious question: why did the Conservatives wait another eight years to begin rebuilding Britain’s defences?
They ignored the threat, hollowed out the Armed Forces and now François wants the poorest people in Britain to pay for the consequences.
Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014. The Conservatives still ran down Britain’s Armed Forces, delayed publication of the Russia Report until after the 2019 election, and Boris Johnson overrode security concerns to put Russian-born media proprietor Evgeny Lebedev in the House of Lords.
Now Mark François says “everyone did it” and demands that Britain’s poorest people pay to repair the damage.
The Tories didn’t defend the realm. They hollowed it out while rolling out the red carpet.
“Everyone did it” isn’t a defence policy, Mark. It’s an admission of failure.

Years after we revealed Charles accepted suitcases stuffed with millions in physical cash and awarded an honour to a Saudi donor who paid for the privilege, the King’s operation is still opaque and opposed to the most gentle scrutiny.
The Metropolitan Police ended up investigating his flagship charity such was the scale of misconduct and its chair, its chief executive and trustees quit.
Yet the foundation — which receives public funds and champions Charles’s personal philosophy of “harmony” — still struggles with familiar issues: its new chairman and new CEO both left recently. Staff complain of being underworked and overpaid. At one point, billionaire donors were going to be given access to HRH’s taxpayer-funded trip to the Vatican and accompany him to meet the Pope. (I reported on the plan, which was withdrawn.)
The monarch officially has no role in his foundation. But he remains involved down to the minutiae and the palace accepted last year he’d grown frustrated at one gardener, of whom he thundered: “Don’t put me in front of that man again!”
This was the context in which sources contacted us recently to reveal that the charity had been making tens of thousands of undisclosed “consultancy” payments to the King’s sister in law — Queen Camilla’s sister.
The charity refused to comment for a week but after we approached the Palace, it abruptly acknowledged Annabel Elliot is a consultant providing advice on “branding” and “retail”. This, they claimed, complied with their procurement processes. What that process amounted to they would not say.
Sources saw it differently, saying it was difficult to discern the outcome of the work but that it appeared to include accompanying the King on official visits involving the charity and keeping him abreast of internal developments.
Claim or counter claim aside, there is no reference to the arrangement publicly or in the “related party transactions” section of accounts — where one would expect to see any payments that could constitute a conflict of interest.
The “cash-for-honours”, “cash-for-access”, “cash-in-bags” and “cash-in-suitcases” stories we broke have all been met with cold fury by the palace — but inevitably came from people within or close to it who did not think it helped the monarchy for its institutions to operate without good governance or basic accountability.
