… does Cameron Maybin know what happened to Neanderthals?
DAMN! Who knew little old me and my opinion would have all y’all this STIRRED UP?!
Some of y’all heard the word ANALYTICS and completely MISSED MY WHOLE DAMN POINT!
I’m talking about REAL BALLPLAYERS! DOGS! GRINDERS! Dudes who will fight through 12-pitch at-bats, move runners, lay down a bunt, run the bases, make plays, and do the dirty work EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! Guys who COMPETE THEIR ASSES OFF!
I spent a few years around Pat Murphy. Sat in his office, had plenty of personal conversations, and heard firsthand what that man preached!
“PLAY LIKE A NEANDERTHAL!”
Now let me ask y’all something…
YOU THINK NEANDERTHALS KNEW WHAT ANALYTICS WERE?! OR WERE THEY JUST OUT THERE TRYING TO COMPETE, SURVIVE, AND WIN NO MATTER WHAT?!
THAT’S MY WHOLE DAMN POINT!
I never said the Brewers and Rays don’t use analytics. I’m saying I see two organizations that value OLD-SCHOOL BALLPLAYERS! Complete players who know how to WIN, even when it ain’t pretty!
Y’all call it analytics. I call it GETTING BACK TO THE GAME I GREW UP LOVING! BASEBALL! SIMPLE AS THAT!
And yeah, let me be a LITTLE PETTY before I go!
Respectfully, I’m not letting people who have NEVER stepped between those lines convince me otherwise just because you went to a really FANCY SCHMANCY COLLEGE 🤣and know how to read a spreadsheet!
I respect education. I respect analytics. But being book smart doesn’t automatically mean you understand what it takes to COMPETE AND WIN between those lines!
I played 15 YEARS in the BIG LEAGUES! I’ve been around some of the greatest baseball minds in the world. That doesn’t mean I know everything, but I’ve earned the right to have my own perspective on this game!
LOVE THE DEBATE! RESPECT EVERYBODY’S OPINION! BUT I’M STANDING TEN TOES DOWN ON MINE!

Every party needs a Popper that’s why they invited you
(Just kidding - this is a great read. Wholeheartedly agree, and very well written)
I wrote about Justin Herbert:

The Niners own the Rams, the Rams own the Seahawks, the Seahawks own the Niners
Should be the new Rock-Paper-Scissors
Tradução: quem oferecer uma 3rd leva. Senão deve sair por uma 4th
The Cardinals are getting trade calls on WR Marvin Harrison Jr., but he won’t come cheap: League sources say Arizona would want a second-round pick and more to consider dealing the former No. 4 pick.
That and much more in The Sweep:

Outra coisa que poderia existir é uma diferenciação de assistências. Aquele passe que leva direto ao arremesso não é a mesma coisa de colocar o companheiro para dribar e criar espaço para arremessar.
Em tempo, isso aqui oficialmente não é uma assistência

Ah sim, Buster Posey e Freedie Freeman, jogadores que as estatísticas analíticas famosamente não acham bons.
At some point, baseball has to get back to valuing ballplayers and not just numbers on a screen. Give me the Freddie Freemans, the Buster Poseys, Hunter Pences, Pablo Sandovals, Michael Youngs, Ian Kinslers of the world. Guys who just flat out know how to play the game. Everyone wants to talk launch angle and exit velo, but what happened to valuing a quality at bat?” The 9-pitch battle that might end in an out, but forces a pitcher to show everything he’s got.
The guy who hits behind the runner, takes what’s given, or just refuses to give a pitcher an easy inning. Those at-bats might not look sexy in the box score, but they show up in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. Some of these dudes could absolutely leave the yard too. That’s the point. They weren’t one-dimensional. Somewhere along the way, we confused measurable tools with knowing how to win baseball games.
I’m not against analytics or hitting the ball hard, but there is an art to winning that you can’t fully measure. We need more guys who know how to play baseball, not just hitters, not just athletes, ballplayers. And I promise you, those dudes never go out of style
Os WRs dos Broncos tem atuado supreendentemente mal nessa temporada, e Pat Bryant a meu ver vinha sendo o melhor da equipe até aqui. Grande perda.
Broncos WR Pat Bryant (ankle) has been placed on injured reserve, per @RapSheet.
He'll now miss at least the next four games.
