At the same time, they can feel a sense of guilt about leaving their loved one behind, that it is wrong to be happy. Gentle, consistent reassurance that they are not only allowed to be happy, but that their loved one would want them to be, can help. 2/2 #grief #bereavementsupport

It's already the end of January, and it reminds me that as time passes, bereaved children can feel very contrasting emotions. On the one hand, the intensity of their grief eases and they increasingly find happiness in life again. But this brings with it a new challenge. 1/n

One of the school traditions is that leavers go "up the tower" and write their names on the wall. I found a suitable space to add my name, along with @chrisleach78 who never got a chance to do his.

Some Primary Schools offer outstanding support for #bereavedchildren. Some don't. Coming soon, my 2nd book covers everything from assessing a bereaved child's needs, to planning, to delivering support, so that every school can Be The Rainbow. #teachers #schools #bereavement

Going into a New Year can feel painful for the grieving... It's normal and okay if you're struggling with facing a year that your love is not in. Be kind as the clock turns... time is different for the grieving 💙
Thank you for this beautiful quote from Zoe Clark-Coates.

'Widow brain' is normal 💙 Your mind is overwhelmed by loss, it cuts down some executive functions such as concentration & short-term memory. It's normal if your mind feels foggy or scatty and you're suddenly more forgetful. This eases in time... be patient with your mind 💙

Grief overcomes us in unimaginable ways. I had some devastating news this week of the loss of a loved one. One minute I think I’m ok and the next I can’t stop crying #MissYouAlready SuperWomen, forever in our hearts 💕

This school was pressured into deleting this video, what is wrong with people.
For that reason it deserves a share, bless them x

Friendship isn't about who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you" and proved it.

Tomorrow (Friday) at school children and staff are remembering the amazing @chrisleach78 by wearing a pair of 'Snazzy Socks', raising money for @khhosp. It
would be great if some of his twitter followers could do the same and tweet with a photo to @tleach84 and @swervehockey
