The BBC subpoenaed Jack Smith for a deposition to defend itself against Trump's defamation lawsuit.
Smith didn't object to the subpoena.
Team Trump opposes. buff.ly/cf6GaG2

ALT No one forced Plaintiff to file this lawsuit and to dispute that his speech on January 6 incited the violence that followed at the Capitol. But as long as he chooses to maintain the case, he cannot commit the fundamental injustice of preventing the BBC from obtaining the evidence it needs to robustly defend itself on every element of his claim, including Plaintiff’s burden to prove falsity.

Here’s what @elonmusk and others keep missing: Russia can end this war by stopping its invasion. Ukraine can’t end it by surrendering without losing its freedom.
Telling Ukrainians to stop defending themselves because fighting costs lives rewards the country killing them.
If your “solution” demands courage from the invaded and nothing from the invader, that’s peak weakness. And you need to stop pretending to be some alpha
Elon Musk becomes deeply moved, and deadly serious, when Bret Baier asks him why he called Sen. Mark Kelly a "Traitor" for pushing to send more US aid and weapons to Ukraine.
Watch every second of his response.
"We should have empathy for the thousands of people dying everyday in the trenches. For no movement in the lines. For the past two years thousands of people have died every week for nothing."
"I take great offense at those who put the appearance of goodness over the reality of it. Those who virtue signal and say we can't give into Russia, but have no solution to stopping thousands of kids dying every day."
"I have contempt for such people and I want to make that clear. Because they're virtue signaling and their lack of a solution means that kids don't have a father. It means parents lost a son. For what? Nothing."

On 19th October 1914, one of the most important early battles of the First World War began around the Belgian town of Ypres.
After weeks of manoeuvring in what became known as the Race to the Sea, German and Allied forces clashed in Flanders as both sides sought to secure the northern flank and the strategically vital Channel ports. The German objective was to break through the Allied lines, capture or threaten ports such as Calais, Dunkirk and Boulogne, and isolate the British Expeditionary Force.
British, French and Belgian troops fought desperately to prevent that advance. To the north, in the concurrent Battle of the Yser, Belgian forces under King Albert, supported by the French, held the line; when the situation grew critical, the Belgians opened the sluices and flooded the lowlands, creating a water barrier that halted the German push toward the coast.
The fighting around Ypres itself continued until 22nd November 1914. It unfolded in a series of phases, including the Battle of Langemarck, where large numbers of young, hastily trained German volunteers suffered heavy losses; later remembered in Germany as the Kindermord, or Massacre of the Innocents. Critical moments followed at Gheluvelt on 31st October, where a German breakthrough was reversed by a determined British counter-attack involving the Worcestershire Regiment, and at Nonne Bosschen on 11th November during the final major German assault.
Although the Allied line held and German attempts to break through towards the ports were thwarted, the cost was devastating. The original British Expeditionary Force suffered enormous losses; around 58,000 casualties in the Flanders fighting, effectively destroying the pre-war professional army, while French, Belgian and German casualties were also severe. The battle created the Ypres Salient, the pronounced Allied bulge east of the town that would shape years of subsequent fighting, and helped establish the continuous entrenched Western Front that ran from the Swiss border to the North Sea.
Today, Ypres remains one of the most powerful places of remembrance associated with the First World War. The Menin Gate, the nightly Last Post ceremony, the rebuilt Cloth Hall and the many cemeteries of the salient stand as enduring reminders of those who fought, those who died, and the families whose lives were changed forever.

In 1942 a Dutch warship escaped the Japanese Navy by pretending to be an island. It worked.
By early March 1942, the Dutch East Indies were falling. The Japanese had crushed the Allied fleet at the Battle of the Java Sea. Java was about to be overrun. The last Dutch ships still afloat were ordered to run for Australia.
One of them was HNLMS Abraham Crijnssen, a small, slow minesweeper about 180 feet long. She had almost no guns that could stop an airplane, and she couldn't outrun a Japanese destroyer if her life depended on it. Which it did.
She was supposed to make the escape with three other Dutch warships. Those ships were caught and sunk. Abraham Crijnssen was on her own.
Her captain, Lieutenant Commander Anton van Miert, came up with a plan that sounds insane.
The waters between Java and Australia are scattered with thousands of islands. Many of them are just tiny specks of land with a few trees on top. So the crew went ashore and cut down trees and jungle plants. They covered the entire ship in them, from bow to stern, until she looked like a small jungle-covered island. They painted the exposed parts of the hull gray and brown to look like rock and cliffs.
There was one catch. Islands don't move.
So during the day, the ship anchored right up against real islands and sat completely still. The crew refreshed the wilting leaves and stayed out of sight. Japanese planes flew overhead. They saw nothing but one more island.
At night, the "island" pulled up anchor and crept south toward Australia.
Night after night, day after day, she slipped through waters crawling with Japanese ships and aircraft.
After about eight days, the coast of Australia came into view. On March 20, 1942, Abraham Crijnssen sailed into Fremantle.
She was the last Allied ship to escape Java, and the only one of her class in the region to survive.
She went on to serve the rest of the war with the Royal Australian Navy hunting submarines.
And she's still around today. Abraham Crijnssen is preserved as a museum ship at the Dutch Navy Museum in Den Helder, in the Netherlands.

Trump is siding with Russia. Again.
He’s attacking Zelenskyy for striking Russian oil refineries, while Russia has been relentlessly bombing Ukraine’s energy grid and civilian targets.
Ukraine actually STOPPED hitting refineries after Trump announced his fake ceasefire, as a show of good faith. Russia kept attacking anyway.
And Trump claims Russia is doing “very little” to help Iran, even though multiple officials have testified that Russia is actively helping Iran.

BREAKING: The Republican Party of Florida wants a judge to pull a Democratic TV ad about the Hope Florida grand jury report. It says airing the report's "content, gist, or import" is now a crime.
The lawsuit, filed at 11:36 p.m. Friday in Highlands County, targets the Florida Democratic Party, its three statewide candidates and 11 TV stations in Orlando and Tampa Bay.
The party also referred the stations to FDLE and prosecutors. One copy went to the statewide prosecutor, who works in AG James Uthmeier's office. Uthmeier is the candidate the ad targets.
What the lawsuit leaves out:
- The grand jury report has been public since Aug. 26.
- The appeals court ruling it relies on isn't final until Friday at the earliest.
- The U.S. Supreme Court struck down part of the same secrecy law in 1990.
Early voting starts Monday in many counties.
