One more thing: we’re halving the price of cache reads on Claude Sonnet 5.5, to $0.10 per million tokens. That makes Sonnet 5.5 around 20% cheaper to run on most long-running work.

If you loved how Opus 4.6 felt to work with, Opus 5.5 feels like coming home. Same easy back-and-forth with a lot more horsepower underneath. It's the most fun I've had in Claude Code in a while. It's also much cheaper (~40% less than Opus 5 on typical workloads).

We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training. We’re also introducing Enterprise Frontier Safeguards (EFS), which give enterprise customers complete privacy (the same as zero data retention), while still being state-of-the-art at preventing adversarial use. EFS rolls out in phases, starting this fall. anthropic.com/news/enterpris…

We’ve received notice that the Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. We'll begin restoring access tomorrow, and will share an update soon. We’re grateful to our users for their patience, and to everyone who worked with us on redeploying the models.

Wow - This brought back so many memories of the nightmares I used to have from this scene!!
Superman III Nightmare Fuel. If the 80s weren't traumatic enough, we also had to watch Vera Webster getting violently fused into computer machinery and turned into a lifeless cyborg. Pamela Stephenson helped get me through this.

it's 2am and i must go to bed, but... been testing fable 5 for hours and I know exactly how this sounds i'm literally the guy who calls out hype for a living but there have been so many small moments tonight that left me genuinely speechless this is not a normal model release and i see now why anthropic is so cautious the world is not the same after today

Holy SHittttt Claude Fable 5 just finished Pokémon FireRed with vision alone 🤯 raw screenshots only no map / no nav / no hidden game state older Claude needed a helper harness This timelapse goes hardddddd....
🚨 Here we Go Fable 5 is state of the art on nearly all tested benchmarks, with exceptional performance in software engineering, knowledge work, scientific research, and vision. It can run for days, and the longer the task, the larger its lead over our other models.
