The misconception that Israel only entered Syria after Assad fell is false. Israel had already built roads inside Quneitra, carried out incursions, constructed trenches and conducted a ground raid in Syria before December 2024.

Suwayda A suicide drone struck an Internal Security checkpoint in the al-Mazraa operational area, slightly injuring one officer and causing damage to equipment at the site.
Suwayda’s National Guard, a coalition of Druze armed factions loyal to religious leader Hikmat al-Hijri, attacked an Internal Security Forces position in western rural Suwayda using explosive-laden drones, a Syrian security source said. The strike hit a recurring flashpoint along the province’s western perimeter and comes just days after Suwayda Governor Mustafa al-Bakour urged local notables to enter dialogue with the state, amid persistent tensions.

An "uprising"? They literally went out and slaughtered civilians and security personnel, hundreds. The reaction that followed was also unbelievable horrific, but let’s also not pretend this brutal attack by Assad regime remnants was some kind of noble uprising.
🇸🇾 Two people were sentenced to death and three others to prison terms by a Syrian court on Thursday over their roles in a campaign of sectarian violence last year in the Alawite region of coastal Syria. In March 2025, an uprising by elements of the former Assad regime was followed by a much larger and violent backlash by militias and security forces affiliated with the current Syrian government that spiraled into widespread sectarian violence that killed over 1,500 people. Read Drop Site’s coverage of the massacre linked below. Separately, Syrian intelligence officials arrested Ali Kayali, the state-owned news agency SANA reported. Kayali is the primary suspect in the 2013 killing of hundreds of civilians in western Syria. At the time, he was the leader of a pro-government militant group.

Before Russia entered the war, Assad was already burning Syria to the ground. But in 2015, Russia left almost nothing untouched, homes, cities, and communities reduced to ash. A reminder of why Syria was destroyed to this level.

Should Syria prioritize sustainable growth? In the current economic reality, we don't have the luxury of time. While sustainable growth requires strong institutions—and institutions need resources—our immediate focus must be rapid growth to lift people out of extreme poverty. How can we do that? On the Inside Syria podcast (Syria Now on YouTube), we addressed this key question and several others. Watch the full episode on link: youtu.be/S1EVyLGzIqE?si=ejoG…
