Oct 23rd, 2023. This was the day when everything I thought I was going to do with my life changed. We ran the 1st Funhaver event. Fast forward $200,000+ and 3 years later and it turned into something I never expected. Handing this off to someone who would care as much I would was always going to be hard, but, I've come to realize something....
Hey everyone, I have been getting a lot of questions about Funhaver and our 2027 plans, so a few things to say here and now:
1 - Riot has not selected us to operate Open Qualifiers or otherwise for 2027, and you will have to wait for news from them for anything more about that.
2 - We will continue to operate tournaments where we identify it fits. If OQs run on weekends consistently, we will run either during the week or on off weekends, but being mindful of the event cadence and burnout for teams. When the full schedule and format for 2027 NA comes out, I will look to plan out the year in advance for teams.
3 - If the schedule allows, we will run another LAN in 2027.
I have poured a lot of myself into Funhaver, the tournaments, the software, and you all, and to share this news isn't where I had hoped to be. However, I will not stop looking to help every player and every team both prepare for 2027 this year with expanded tournaments, more played rounds for teams, but also maintain competitive edges in 2027.
Should ANY TO wish to utilize our software rather in 2027 and to support their local circuit, please don't hesitate to reach out.
What a shame. This org has invested and supported the scene from the ground up for a long time, and not to mention been the most dominant organization in GC for years. I feel for everyone there man
Unfortunately, @ShopifyRebels was passed on for Valorant partnership. Will share more thoughts later, but for now enjoy a (no longer relevant) player card concept.
Ayo @Spotify, today's desktop update (v1.3.4.258) broke Lossless on Win10. Every Play crashes the app. Very High works fine.
Error: 0xC0000094 divide by zero at Spotify.dll+0xd1ff1b. Lossless bitrate comes through as 0. Can't patch it myself, so a fix would be appreciated
Introducing our new Leaderboard on the FunhaverGG website - for teams and players.
This is powered by a similar system to how we seed teams and players in tournaments, but is different enough. The idea is to help capture the other aspects of what makes a player good in VALORANT. A raw ACS number or total kills don't mean much these days as most people know.
This data is only fed from our tournaments, and I look forward to improving our systems and powering players careers.

With OQs coming up for Kickoff, and who knows what else, I wanted to briefly talk to the community as a whole in NA on a few things related to tournaments, VLR, formats, and more for the remainder of the year and onward.
For 2027 - I have no idea what this will look like for us and until I do, I can't make promises on what we will be able to do, how often, etc.. The priorities will always be on letting people play official events without conflict, so it all comes down to scheduling and when we can run events.
For 2026 - There is a lot of things I have been wanting to do, and formats like DOUBLE//DOWN are one of them. Giving players more reps against better teams and truly making it feel rewarding to play the game and get better is what I have always wanted to do. GSL is a great base of a format but often creates too much imbalance and we have 32 team playoff brackets where a vast majority of RO32 matchups are heavily one sided yet still. This means for a lot of teams, your first 3 matches provide little to no value from a competitive standpoint.
The issue with running new ideas and formats come 2-fold from the community:
1 - People use VLR to track themselves and their career in the game. People see it as the place to get scouted and be picked up to new teams, but the problem is that's really not the case anymore. Ranked leaderboards, tournaments, 10 mans, etc. mean more than a static number on a 3rd party website to coaches. The data there can help show people your depth and breadth as a player, but it's not the source of recruiting it once was, and I think for the better. People tend to only play events if they're guaranteed to get VLR stats for every match they play, and while we are fortunate enough to have a stacked competition weekly and our events meet VLRs criteria, it often means new ideas and formats don't always fit those and we don't know the full extent of the coverage. This has caused events without this "guaranteed" coverage to have reduced signup numbers, which makes operating the tournaments profitably hard to do.
2 - People don't like trying new things. Change can be scary, and for teams who are playing one of their first few events, spending money on something you dont know how it'll go is tough. I never want to make the process harder, or more than required raise the barrier to entry, but I also want to be able to do new and exciting things, while also keeping competition high and the value higher.
Tournaments are hard to get right, we have followed a recipe thats worked for us and I am very grateful to have been able to stay in business all these years. I am curious on y'alls thoughts and opinions and what you would like to see more of / less of and how we can be better to get teams in the best spot they can be for what lay ahead.
There’s always someone going through something you may not know about. If you are, please reach out to someone. People do care and there will always be someone who will help, no matter what you are never alone I promise. This is so repeated but it is so true. Stopping your world doesn’t stop the rest of it from spinning. Days go on, weeks go past, and seasons will change.
Trying out a new format idea this weekend - 8 team double-elim bracket as "Groups" (2x GSL) into a Single Elim bracket as "Playoffs". I've felt tournaments have been too one-sided Day 1 & 2 with Day 3 being the only hard day. Trying to provide higher quality matches far earlier.
Big big big big big big big big big big BIG! Looking forward to the full details and for what comes next. Also, I wonder what this means fully for Premier.
The path is open. The stakes are higher.
