Neville Chamberlain has found his modern successor, at least in the historical warning now being sounded by one of America’s most distinguished generals.
Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Wesley Clark warns that Trump may be prepared to sacrifice Ukraine in exchange for Putin’s cooperation on Iran. He compares the possibility to Munich in 1938, when Britain and France handed Hitler the Sudetenland in the hope of securing peace.
Clark calls the potential bargain “very, very corrupt, dangerous”. His warning comes as Washington eases Russian sanctions and delays vital military support for Ukraine.
The historical parallel is unmistakable: Neville Chamberlain believed concessions could buy peace. Clark fears Trump may be contemplating the same mistake, with Ukraine paying the price.
Former NATO commander Wesley Clark accused Trump of potentially sacrificing Ukraine to secure Putin’s cooperation on Iran, comparing the possible deal to the 1938 Munich Agreement, when Hitler was appeased after invading Czechoslovakia.

The Washington Post reports that a group of American national security officials is quietly advising state authorities and members of Congress on how to prepare for possible Trump administration interference in November’s midterm elections.
Officials are examining scenarios involving federal agents, military deployments and disruption of voting.
The extraordinary development is that American institutions are preparing for potential interference from their own government.

The greatest intelligence failure in American history may not have been a foreign operation. It may have been America's inability to protect itself from its own president.
For years, the evidence of Trump's extraordinary loyalty to Moscow has been mounting. His admiration for Putin, his attacks on NATO, his possession of highly classified American defence secrets, and his repeated willingness to advance Russian interests.
Yet the most extraordinary part of this entire scandal is the American state itself. The FBI, the intelligence community, Congress and the entire national security apparatus have proved incapable of protecting the country from a president whose conduct has repeatedly raised profound questions about his loyalty.
Russia spent decades trying to defeat the United States from the outside. Now Putin can watch an American president dismantle the Western order from within.
And the institutions built to defend America have been unable to stop him.
What an extraordinary national humiliation.

BBC outclassed on investigative reporting by ITV and Channel 4 and stands little chance of ever restoring its reputation with this level of cuts. Shameful.

Yet another of Musk's favorite pro-Russian political parties is found to be actual nazis, not fake ones.
Germany's AFD, like Musk, are actually nazis.
❗️ The AfD leak site's thousands of emails shows nazism from party members and staff labeled under racism/antisemitism.
We went through the worst:
1. A 2018 email forwarded by Alexander Gauland concerns a "Hitler-Wallfahrt", a Hitler pilgrimage, by a former judge at the party's Thuringia arbitration court.
2. A member joked in a district WhatsApp group about turning refugees into handbags and boots, an allusion to the Nazi camps.
3. A district chairman quit, saying a board member sent a "Heil Hitler" Christmas card with a swastika and it was laughed off.
4. A Bavarian official urged party leaders to chant "Merkel verrecke", roughly "Merkel, croak", every day.
5. Federal party staff discussed luring a photographer to an event to remove him by force. The thread signs off "Heil und Sieg".
6. A 2025 NRW email is titled "Sale of swastika flags and drugs at the info stand".
7. This year alone, branches moved against members over a Nazi banner with a swastika, a Hitler impression and a call for machine guns against Arab clans.

The AfD leaks are absolutely massive, so massive I don’t think anyone has completely gone over all of it.
But what we know so far it’s incredibly dark. This is a violently radical party doing its best not to show its true colours. And succeeding.

BREAKING
The BBC subpoenaed Jack Smith for a deposition to defend itself against Trump's defamation lawsuit.
Smith didn't object to the subpoena.
Team Trump opposes. buff.ly/cf6GaG2

ALT No one forced Plaintiff to file this lawsuit and to dispute that his speech on January 6 incited the violence that followed at the Capitol. But as long as he chooses to maintain the case, he cannot commit the fundamental injustice of preventing the BBC from obtaining the evidence it needs to robustly defend itself on every element of his claim, including Plaintiff’s burden to prove falsity.

Watched 45 minutes of #bbcbreakfast and still no mention of ITV documentary about Reform. What a surprise, would normally have a 10 minute speech by Mason if this was about Labour.

Putin has bribed Trump and enough senior officials in the White House so as to exert almost total control over the administration.
There are only three options:
1. Putin has bribed Trump and enough senior officials in the White House so as to exert almost total control over the administration.
2. Putin has enough kompromat on Trump and on enough senior officials so as to exert almost total control over the administration.
3. Trump and enough senior officials are sufficiently ideologically aligned with Putin so neither bribes nor kompromat are necessary to exert almost total control over the administration.

BREAKING. From a NATO official:
“We can confirm that two Italian Eurofighter jets were scrambled earlier today in response to a drone over Lithuanian airspace. The aircraft were operating under NATO command. An investigation is ongoing, and NATO remains in close contact with the Lithuanian authorities. NATO is ready and able to react to any potential threat, 24/7, to safeguard our territory and protect our people.”

Much punchier accusations from Sir Malcolm Rifkind - a former defence and foreign secretary:
"I choose my words very carefully. I think this week Donald Trump has shown himself as a person to be repulsive; as a President of the United States to be a disgrace to his own people as well as to his international responsibilities.
"We all know his actual reasons for this are a grubby attempt to win a few more votes in the midterms by trying to get oil prices down.
"In order to achieve that, he has not only betrayed Ukraine in the middle of a war, fighting for its very existence, but he is also directly - not indirectly - directly responsible for the deaths of many Ukrainians who will not now be protected by the attempts that have been successfully made using intelligence provided indirectly by the United States."
