Palworld’s developers don’t want to add new Pals just for the sake of having more.
Pocketpair publishing lead John “Bucky” Buckley says the team isn’t thinking, “We need to release 100 new Pals with the next update.”
Instead, they want every Pal to have something memorable, whether it’s their design, abilities, personality, combat role, work skills, or just something weird and funny.
“Ideally, every Pal should have something that gives players a reason to remember it.”

Steam Next Fest is facing huge backlash over the rise of AI-slop and low-effort games.
The October event has 8,011 demos, nearly twice as many as June., developers say the flood of low-quality “AI slop” is making it harder for real indie games worth to play
Back in June, roughly 1 in 5 games at Steam Next Fest disclosed using AI. Now, just a few months later, that number has jumped to around 1 in 3.
Some developers have even avoided public demos because they fear their games could be copied.

The UK could make people pay £180 a year to watch YouTube, Netflix and other streaming services.
The government is considering changing the TV Licence rules as part of the BBC’s next Royal Charter.
Right now, you only need a TV Licence for live TV or BBC iPlayer. You can watch Netflix or normal YouTube videos without one.
If the plans go ahead streaming viewers could also have to pay the annual fee.
I’m unable to skip ads on YouTube now. On mobile. On my phone. Not sure about on pc. This is making me want to go on brave on my mobile. Full time now. Which sucks because battery inefficiency & few other inconveniences happens on brave browser. Particularly on YouTube

PS5 firmware 14.10 might be the next big one for jailbreakers.
Developers are currently testing new vulnerabilities on 14.10, and some researchers have managed to get further into the system than before.
There are also reports of Debug Settings being accessed on 14.10.
Still, there’s no public jailbreak yet. But things are definitely moving.

RTX 6060 might not arrive until 2029, and could potentially be weaker than the PS6, according to hardware leaker KeplerL2.
KeplerL2 claims NVIDIA could delay the lower-end RTX 60-series cards because of ongoing supply constraints:
“6060 will launch much later, and based on recent trends I doubt it will match PS6.”
“When there’s a supply shortage NVIDIA tends to really drag the release of lower end cards. There’s a good chance RTX 6060 comes out in 2029.”
For comparison, current PS6 leaks have placed Sony’s next console around the performance level of GPUs such as the RX 9070 XT or RTX 5070 Ti, although those comparisons remain speculative.

Denuvo has won court approval to subpoena Discord, Valve and Reddit in an attempt to identify the anonymous game cracker known as “voices38.”
Denuvo originally asked for a huge amount of information, including payment records, transaction history, login logs and posts/comments. But the judge raised privacy concerns and said the requests went way beyond what was needed to identify the person.
Denuvo then cut the requests down. The new subpoenas mainly ask for information that could reveal voices38’s identity, such as their name, email address, IP addresses, phone number and physical address.
The court has now approved the revised subpoenas, so Denuvo can officially serve them to Discord, Valve and Reddit. The platforms have until November 3 to hand over the requested information.
Denuvo says it currently has little more than the “voices38”, they have nothing lol

An Australian MP Helen Haines was reportedly attacked with a car outside her electorate office on Monday. The driver was known to police. He had a knife in his vehicle and is now facing a mental health assessment. Police called it an isolated incident.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese went on the ABC that evening and blamed social media.
Four days earlier, his government tabled the Online Safety Amendment (Digital Duty of Care) Bill. It runs to 90 pages and never once mentions free speech. It fines platforms up to $109.2 million for leaving "harmful" posts up. It fines them nothing for taking too many down. Any platform lawyer can do that math.
Communications Minister Anika Wells says the government is not controlling free speech. She said this while introducing a law that forces platforms to delete it.
Australia has run this play before. After Bondi, the government demanded footage be scrubbed and pushed new speech rules. The eSafety Commissioner then asked for a power to make platforms act on “pile-ons.” Every attack becomes an argument for more control over what Australians can post.

Escape the Walls went viral after developer Pandorio Games posted footage of its simple concept: punch through walls, break blocks, clear the rubble, and escape.
Just one day later, similar versions started appearing on Roblox. Some creators even said they used AI like Claude to build their clones.
The original game isn’t even out yet, while clones are already being released.

The developers behind a Needle In A Haystack clone are complaining that their game has now been cloned by someone else using AI.
They say the new game is essentially a “byte-for-byte identical” copy of their version, including its code and other elements.
The funny part is that their own game was already a clone of the original Needle In A Haystack concept.
Now the developers are arguing that there’s a big difference between being inspired by a game and directly copying someone else’s work.

Eight US states have sued OpenAI, and their main complaint is that ChatGPT collects too much data from children. Their proposed fix is age verification for every user, which means collecting far more data from everyone.
West Virginia wants “effective age assurance.” Montana wants OpenAI barred from processing personal information until it checks IDs. Idaho wants age verification “without limitation.”
People tell ChatGPT things they would never tell another person. The states want each of those conversations signed.

A UK news outlet is being criticized for suggesting Skyrim may have influenced the death of a 24-year-old man who entered a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
The Daily Mail noted that William Chapman was a Skyrim fan who took a photo with a crossbow that day, and suggested he might have been “living out a fantasy” from the game.
There is no evidence linking Skyrim to the incident. Chapman did not take the crossbow into the enclosure, and there is no indication he was trying to hunt the tiger.

A mod for Oblivion Remastered created with help from Claude AI, and it’s targeting one of the game’s biggest PC problems: performance.
The “Optimized Tweaks OBLR” mod claims to improve CPU/GPU efficiency, reduce latency and help with streaming and memory management.
In the creator’s testing, the results were pretty impressive:
Average FPS: +37%
Stutters: 66 → 11
1% lows: 18 → 26 FPS
No major reduction in visual quality

🚨 Paris is on fire as rioters take over across France:
Over 500,000 people have taken to the streets across France. Protesters and rioters have set fire to historic buildings, destroyed famous statues, and looted thousands of stores.
Police have been seen driving away after being attacked and overwhelmed by the number of rioters as clashes broke out across every major city in France.
Let this be a warning sign for the rest of the West: Hundreds of years of work and preservation gone in one day.

Nothing will radicalize you more than watching Caleb Hammer expose how social programs siphon money from hard-working taxpayers to subsidize the lowest common denominator in society.
Caleb Hammer completely unloads on a Louisiana couple after learning their $100,000 household is collecting $500 a month in FOOD STAMPS.
That’s $6,000/year in TAX-FREE income.
HAMMER: “That PISSES me off.”
That $6,000 cushion is exactly what lets them blow $3,600 a year eating out.
Taxpayers cover the groceries so they can hit the restaurants.
Hammer was so disgusted he stopped talking to them and started ranting under his breath, while the couple sat frozen in stunned silence.
Maybe everyone gaming the system should have to sit across from a taxpayer and explain themselves.
Something tells me the look on Hammer’s face will haunt them the next time they eat out.

AI “vibe coding” is starting to create a serious problem for the video game industry.
The release of Claude Opus 5.5 has made it much easier to decompile and recompile games, leading to a wave of unofficial ports, mods and game clones. Publishers are already filing DMCA takedowns over some of this activity. Kotaku
Former Take-Two AI chief Luke Dicken says developers and publishers need to take the trend seriously:
“This new wave of decompile-and-port is definitely something that developers and publishers need to take seriously.”
“More invasive DRM, platform-level solutions, and probably more of a push towards streaming solutions.”
Godot executive director Emilio Coppola puts more responsibility on platforms such as Steam, arguing that developers have very few ways to protect themselves while bad actors can profit from selling AI-made clones:
“The burden should fall onto the platforms who are enabling this sort of behavior.”
There’s also a growing concern among indie developers about showing unfinished games publicly. Coppola says he has heard from developers who are now:
“Worried and anxious to even share early access versions of their games”

Discord told users it doesn’t look at their messages, calls, or other content when sorting accounts by age. Florida is now suing Discord because it doesn’t look at their messages, calls, or other content. The complaint objects that Discord’s filters only scan images and videos and leave text, voice, and calls untouched.
It lists voice and video channels as an unfair practice. It wants ID checks before users can be seen or share anything.
The state is seeking up to $150,000 per violation and a court order to make it happen.
Florida calls this child safety but it's a demand that nobody on Discord gets to have a private conversation again.
