After the bureaucrats, it is the turn of the cops. Acc to Dawn, since 29 August, four cases of armed dacoity have taken place in Islamabad targeting Chinese nationals. In two cases, serving police officials in uniform, rpt ‘in uniform’ were involved. In Sep, three serving capital police personnel were found involved in operating a dacoit gang in Islamabad. Police officials, in uniform, operating dacoit gangs is bad enough; targeting nationals of 'All-Weather friend', is worse. What happened to the ‘fool-proof’ security for the Chinese? And where is Pak-China ‘deeper than oceans’ friendship? Just asking. dawn.com/news/2038358

Something is seriously wrong in Pakistan. Def Min Khawaja Asif has revealed that a significant number of govt officers had prepared for their relocation abroad while still serving. Note ‘significant number’ & ‘while still serving.’ Portugal is the new favourite destination for the bureaucratic exodus. Since bureaucrats have their ear to the ground, is it a case of rats deserting a sinking ship? Just asking. tribune.com.pk/story/2635554…

With Indo-Pak border closed, firing on Pak-Afghan border & now Pak-Iran border also closed, only land border open for #Pakistan is with China. That too will close in a short while due to winter. Is Pakistan deliberately boxing itself in? A bonanza for smugglers!

Will the creation of more provinces solve Pakistan’s problems? Field Marshal Asim Munir and Mohsin Naqvi, apparently think so. But, as Tilak Devasher asks, “How is creating more provinces anyway connected to what is happening in Pakistan?” With the TTP striking security installations and Baloch insurgents targeting railway lines and power plants, Devasher questions whether redrawing Pakistan’s political map is a distraction from its deepening security crisis. “Is that a huge distraction operation, this creating of multiple provinces to break up the opposition, break up the provincial bedrock of Pakistan?” His larger question is even more damning: “Is Pakistan then ungovernable or are its leaders incapable of governing Pakistan?” Watch the full conversation on Chakra News: youtu.be/3U9y3qSnr04 #Pakistan #AsimMunir #PakistanPolitics #Geopolitics #ChakraNewz #khyberPakhtunkhwa @SandeepUnnithan @awasthi_bob @tilakdevasher1 @i_DeepakBhadana

Much talk in Pakistan about creating smaller provinces since the ‘system has collapsed’. Interestingly, Selig Harrison quotes Zia saying that he would ‘ideally like to breakup the existing provinces and replace them with 53 smaller provinces, erasing ethnic identities from the map of Pakistan altogether.’ I cite this in my Balochistan book. Clearly those close to Gen Asim Munir have been doing some reading!

PTI ‘Long March’. In an article titled ‘On the path to self-destruct’, AVM (retd) Shahzad Chaudhry flags What is at stake. ‘Once again, another province, another ethnic definition, another governmental attitude towards a people of another region with highly sensitised sub-national identity, and the horrendous possibility of another nightmarish eventuality. We only need to recall 1971.’ Well worth a read. tribune.com.pk/story/2633764…

Despite Pak govt’s claim of ‘stabilising’ the economy, a World Bank report issued on 07 Oct indicates that 48% of Middle East, North African, Afghanistan, Pakistan (MENAAP) region’s extreme poor live in Pakistan. It adds that regional increase in poverty was driven primarily by a rise in poverty in Pakistan. dawn.com/news/2035294

Will not be surprised if the Coast Guard’s drug haul of over Rs 3,000 crores and the involvement of Pakistani individuals will be billed by Pakistani analysts as a ‘false flag’ operation. 😂

Acc to a 25 Sep report of the Lowy Institute, China’s #Gwadar gamble isn’t paying off. The port is rapidly transforming from a geopolitical asset into a financial and security liability as Beijing’s risk appetite diminishes. Besides, China is growing weary of sacrificing both capital and the lives of its citizens to defend a commercial failure. Thus, Gwadar is rapidly approaching a tipping point. Quite likely, China will stage a quiet retreat by downscaling its operational footprint, reducing Gwadar from a commercial mega-port to a minor, fortified naval refuelling station. Well worth a read. lowyinstitute.org/the-interp…

#Pakistan. Cops deployed to foil PTI’s long march face serious ‘Oops’ moments. Acc to Express Tribune, around 32,000 cops brought from diff dists of Punjab & deployed at diff points in Attock district to stop the march are facing a shortage of facilities, esp severe lack of washrooms. At one school accommodating nearly 1,000 cops, there is only one washroom and they have to wait for hours outside it causing severe distress. In the absence of washrooms, a large number of personnel use bushes and fields beneath the Attock River bridge, which, according to them, is worsening their problems.

'200 Ops A Day?': Tilak Devasher Ridicules Scale, Impact Of Pakistan Army’s Counter-Terror Claims Pakistan’s DG ISPR said the army carried out 40,000 intelligence-based operations against terrorists in the first six months of 2026. Tilak Devasher breaks down what that number means — roughly 200 operations a day — and questions the scale and effectiveness of Pakistan’s counter-terror campaign. He also looks at Pakistan’s claim of 2,000 terrorists killed, the loss of 300 uniformed personnel in six months, and why Pakistan’s terrorism crisis continues to deepen. The larger question: if Pakistan knows what the problem is, why is it unable to tackle it? #Pakistan #PakistanArmy #Terrorism #DGISPR #TilakDevasher @prasadaditi @tilakdevasher1
