Despite decades now of "breaking down genre barriers", when you hear Rick Rubin describe the pretty darn accessible Steve Reich as "almost non-musical" (not in any way meant as an insult), you really appreciate the gulf over which popular musical listening still, largely resides.
Excited for this piece on my work from the good folks at @Ableton

Do you think people who have a hard time committing to things also have a hard time writing melodies? And drift instead toward ambient methods?
What kind of people actually think they're having a "real" authentically human conversation on here? If I thought anything I ever posted would get more than 0-1 replies I'm pretty sure I would just...stop. Old news but for things that matter, this isn't actually "engagement".
Composition is the art of not losing the plot. The irony is that when working on stuff you often have to force yourself to lose a broken plot to fix it with the better one. Fully commit, then maybe surgically remove. Repeat.
"Karma Chameleon" is such a great example of pop's frequent contradictions. Boy George was so genre-pushing in style and sexuality while their signature jam is such harmonica-riffin, milk toast elevator soft rock. So many examples of this. No shade, just sayin.
