I spoke with an AD from a local public HS here in Nevada today…
He said that since school started he has received 62 emails from parents making strong accusations against coaches in every sport they offer in the fall.
He went on to say that after reviewing and investigating he thinks only 2 aren’t actually related to playing time.
I don’t know what any of that means but it’s food for thought.
He didn’t give me the exact breakdown but he said there are at least 5 in every sport.

The teaching profession changes over time.
But rarely in ways that excite me.
For example, I’m still waiting for the PD where teachers are informed that, in an effort to curb misbehavior, we’re now allowed one tackle per week.
Student wandering around the room?
Tackle.
Student launching pencils across the classroom?
Tackle.
I’m telling you, bruh—a tackle a week could send teaching in the right direction.

I think being a high school basketball coach might be harder now than it’s ever been. You really have parents wanting to sit inside practices. That’s crazy to me. I don’t want to sound old, but back in my day, parents wouldn’t even think to ask. Practice was for the players and coaches. Period. Much respect to today’s coaches because they’re dealing with unwarranted egos, unrealistic expectations, delusional parents, handlers. The high school coach used to be more than just the person drawing up plays. They were mentors and role models. They taught you discipline, accountability, how to handle adversity and how to become a better young man or woman. Now, if a freshman isn’t playing 20 out of 32 minutes, you have parents ready to transfer them somewhere else. At some point, we have to ask: Are we helping these kids by removing every uncomfortable situation, or are we hurting their development? How do we give high school coaches the ability to actually COACH again while still holding them accountable?

When I got into coaching in my early 20s, it was tough to even get an interview for a junior high job, let alone a head coaching position at a 5A or 6A school. You had to put in years, work your way up, and prove you could coach before you were seriously considered for those jobs.
That has changed dramatically.
Now we’re seeing people with little to no legitimate high school coaching experience landing jobs at some of the biggest schools, and it’s not because the coaching pool has gotten better. It’s because the pool has gotten smaller.
School boards, unreasonable parents, entitled players, and the constant headaches surrounding high school athletics have driven a lot of good coaches away. Jobs that once would have attracted dozens of qualified candidates are becoming harder and harder to fill.
And ultimately, the people who lose the most are the kids.
High school sports need good coaches. But if we keep making coaching an increasingly miserable job, we shouldn’t be surprised when good coaches decide it simply isn’t worth it anymore.

42 million people watched the US-Belgium game on Fox — 30 million — and Telemundo — 12 million. Staggering number — that’s more people than have ever watched a college football, NBA, MLB or NHL game in history. Only the NFL playoffs can beat it this century.

For the life of me , I don’t understand why we have 26 pillows to put on our bed , only to throw 24 of them on the floor at night

Freese is the worst keeper in modern USMNT history, he’s made one save this tournament and has otherwise been a complete clown show. Our biggest strength vs Belgium become our biggest liability. We deserve the drop.

Why is it ‘cancelled’ in the U.K. but ‘canceled’ in the U.S.?
Because we gave them that L in 1776.
