Vivek Ramaswamy seeks to take political advantage of the fact that his opponent was raped as a child. But to his credit, unlike many other Republican politicians, he was not personally the rapist in question.

Bro, PG&E is a public company.
This is what neoliberalism has created.
You want to fix this replace PG&E with a municipal power company responsble to rate payers.

AI boosterism is just thinly veiled right wing anti-intellectualism:
- you don’t need to understand the code
- you don’t need to understand math or science just let ai do it
- you don’t need to read or write, just dictate
They want you to be uneducated cattle.

now a deleted post, but this is the ultimate end point of capitalism, ai will completely atomize everyone and there will be zero shared experiences. there will be no culture, only pure consumption. this must be resisted

To go with the car metaphor: you don’t get to claim you completed a marathon if you drove.
Same way you don’t get to claim you created art if you asked an AI to do it for you.
I live in SF, which for some reason is orange which I guess means 300+ days which I don't understand; it's literally comfortable 362 days a year and the 3 days in question were the weekend of HSB when it was kind of hot and muggy.

Happy b’day, Jay Graydon, who once explained his solo in Steely Dan’s “Peg”:
“.. It was just another record session as far as nerves go. .. I hoped I would play a solo that Donald and Walter would like, since a guitar solo on a SD album was a big deal ..”

Fuck Samuel Alito and this bullshit argument.
Marriage is not just some private religious ceremony. The government attaches real, tangible benefits to it: tax treatment, inheritance rights, Social Security benefits, health insurance protections, property rights, hospital access, immigration benefits, and a mountain of other legal advantages.
So spare me the claim that same-sex marriage is somehow an affront to “religious liberty.” Your religion does not get to decide which American citizens qualify for government benefits.
If they genuinely believe marriage should belong exclusively to religion, fine. Then take government out of marriage completely. No married filing jointly. No spousal tax breaks. No government-recognized marital status. Every American files separately, pays separately, inherits under the same rules, and receives exactly the same treatment regardless of whether some church considers them married.
Then marriage can be whatever religious ceremony people want it to be.
But you do not get to keep every government benefit of marriage for heterosexual couples while telling gay Americans that recognizing their marriages somehow violates somebody else’s religion.
That isn’t religious liberty. That’s using religion as an excuse to give one group of citizens government privileges that another group is forbidden from accessing.
If marriage comes with government benefits, then equal protection means those benefits cannot be reserved for the couples Samuel Alito personally finds acceptable.
