ALT Experiments for isolating the roles of landscape-scale habitat loss & fragmentation & patch size on populations. (a) Experiments altered the amount/distribution of prickly pear cactus; response was occurrence of 4 specialist herbivores. (b) Experiment 1: patches were removed in random/aggregated pattern. (c) Experiment 2: patches were removed with low/high loss; fragmentation treatments altered the number of patches

Excited to see our paper out! Thanks @FletcherEcology for leading! Habitat fragmentation results in interdependent patch and landscape patterns. Cross-scale research is needed to inform conservation. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

We're searching for an REU to study how habitat fragmentation and corridors affect plants and insects this summer. A great opportunity to work in an experiment that's been running for three decades. Apply by March 31. brudviglab.plantbiology.msu.…

Great paper by Moore et al comparing various methods to aggregate expert elicited estimates and illustrating this process using matrix population models for a freshwater turtle species 🐢

Congratulations to WEC PhD student, Thomas Smith, who has won the award for Best Student Presentation at the 2022 meeting of the International Association for Landscape Ecology-North America (IALE-NA)!
Thomas is advised by Dr. Rob Fletcher and Dr. Emilio Bruna.
I'm not saying the Internet should collectively decide to take this "Diversity of ideas" survey and Boaty McBoatFace it. But I'll just leave the link below: flbog.research.net/r/UF-Stud…
There also is no control on who can take it as far as I can tell.

Does anyone have experience with the Barker capture mark recapture models that would be willing to answer a few questions? @stephen_parker7 @pylodictis

Congrats to my colleagues on a wonderful paper out today on African Wildcat in Rwanda. These are the first photos of this species in about 30 years in this area. Also my first senior (last) author paper!

Need advice: A colleague's paper was rejected - AE said "substantive concerns about statistical models raised by reviewer 1" - the reviews are easy fixes or completely incorrect - can I ask for the paper to be sent to another reviewer? should I send a rebuttal with my request?
