Remarquable article du NYT sur la grande divergence technologique entre les deux grands empires du 21e siècle : les USA et la Chine.
L'empire du pétrole fait face à celui du soleil dans une confrontation qui embarque le reste de l'humanité.

Interesting take. Is this equivalent to the end of the Cold War moment for IR?

Putin routinely throws people who disagree with him out of windows or blows up the planes they are in. He has not just invaded Ukraine. He is killing anyone who disagrees with him.
“Peace for our time.” Neville Chamberlain, 1938.
Sometimes being a peacemaker is a bad thing.
Being a peacemaker is not a bad thing. We should be applauding and supporting @POTUS's efforts to bring about peace.

In just a couple of months, America has gone from the guardian of global order to a predatory gangster state.
This will not end well for anyone, including the people who engineered that shift.

This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell.
This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.
For 80 years the Russian/Soviet regime has tried to weaken the US and divide NATO in furtherance of its anti-democratic agenda. Trump has now accomplished in a month what Soviet and Russian effort could not accomplish in 80 years. And what does the US gain in return?
And how many Republicans said they wouldn’t touch Medicare and Medicaid and then voted for the bill that guts them?

The US under Trump is a petro state. As such, the US will align with the other largest petro states (Russia and Saudi Arabia). Canada is of interest to Trump only because it holds significant oil and gas reserves. Europe is disliked because it’s green.
Are there really not five republicans in the house with an ounce of decency and some personal integrity?
Real patriots don’t hate people who work to improve the lives of the American people (federal employees) and don’t love people who work to undermine democracy (Putin’s Russia). This isn’t complicated.
Simple question: where the fuck are all the heavyweight political elite? @HillaryClinton @BillClinton @BarackObama @MittRomney @SenatorRomney Are you all planning to rely on @Mike_Pence again? John McCain sure as hell would have stood up.
