if this is about me, there is a multi-faceted reason why my tour is booked with 20 support acts :)
1. there’s a lot of underground artists that i wanted to put on. some of the acts on my tour have less than 1000 soundcloud followers and this is a massive opportunity to put on people who i really want to support
2. cost. i don’t have a massive budget and neither do my support acts, especially for a fly-in tour. i tried to give most of the acts, especially the smaller ones shows that are regional so it offsets cost for everyone involved. i don’t want to give someone an opportunity but have it break their bank
3. curation. different markets like different sounds. i was the main decision maker in every single tour stop support. i alone decided who to pick. i wanted something heavier for ATL, wave for seattle, experimental/wave for chicago, dubstep for tampa, etc. as someone who has been going to edm events for 10+ years i am SO TIRED of seeing lineups on tours that are a few “hot” and poppin acts all thrown together on every stop with zero thought to it
4. if you had the opportunity to put on 5 homies or 20, what would you do? for some of my friends on this tour this is the biggest thing they’ve ever been included in. i even made sure people considered “local” who i chose made the flyer. because i picked them. they’re on my show. they deserve to have their name on the art :)
