pre-neurochip implant, the final form will be smart glasses with screens on them. you’ll communicate to the agent in whispers or just mouthing without vocalizing. the agent will communicate the chat to you, and pop up any generative ui you need on your glasses. your phone will be a glorified screen with compute attached to facilitate any on device model inference/task to stream to the glasses. but you’ll still be able to use it to ingest slop dead internet social media if you want to
is chat the final form of agent ui? please share why

The Agentic Scientist: Orchestrating Coding Agents for Automated Scientific (Co-)Discovery Blog: pub.sakana.ai/agentic-scient… GitHub: github.com/SakanaAI/AI-Scien… arXiv: arxiv.org/abs/2610.18933 Since 2024, we’ve used The AI Scientist as a way to test how far AI alone can take scientific research, from v1 to v2 to the paper published in Nature earlier this year. The Agentic Scientist is the next step in that line of work, built for the era of coding agents. Coding agents such as Codex and Claude Code now carry out long software tasks on their own. Handing them a research problem, however, tends to produce a strong hyperparameter optimizer rather than a scientist: scores go up, but ideas stay narrow, and the reasons for the gain are rarely examined. The Agentic Scientist makes the research loop explicit. It wraps off-the-shelf coding agents in a scaffold that controls what they see, what they write, how they are evaluated, and how results are handed to the next stage. Parallel workers test hypotheses against rubrics defined before any experiment runs, share successes and failures through a common memory, and then ablate the winning program to generate evidence. We used an early version of the system to study Error Diffusion, a biologically motivated alternative to backpropagation. Our researchers set the question and the rubric, chose directions at each stage, and verified the results, references, and claims before submission. The resulting paper was accepted as an oral presentation at ALIFE 2026. In autonomous runs, the system also raised Doc-to-LoRA retrieval accuracy from 52% to 98% on multi-needle tasks and designed a learned evolution strategy that improves over its CMA-ES reference on unseen tasks. Alongside it we release AutoIllustrate, a pipeline for scientific figures that keeps an editable draw.io file as the source of truth, so every diagram can be corrected by hand. Humans define the question and the standards of evidence; agents expand the experiments researchers can run. We call this Co-Discovery, and we are releasing both systems as open source for the community to build on.

crazy how before the technology used to be the bottleneck, now it’s the human. oops!

just another instance of @SakanaAILabs killing it!
There are 2 (two!) Sakana papers in this week's top 10!

is dot just an orchestrator thread with some heartbeat/proactivity? or is there something else I'm missing?

Many of you are talking about the “space jellyfish” following this morning’s launch from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. More than 6,300 scientific investigations and cargo are on their way to the @Space_Station, as part of SpaceX's 35th commercial resupply services mission for NASA. A jellyfish happens near sunrise or sunset when the exhaust plume from the rocket becomes brightly illuminated, creating a glowing shape resembling a jellyfish. Show us where you captured the jellyfish?

half of my friends back in Tampa are currently freaking out about this lol. have gotten several messages within the past hour asking about aliens
SpaceX launching CRS-35 cargo resupply to the @Space_Station on behalf of NASA. Captured during the pre-dawn hour, creating the perfect conditions for a Falcon 9 twilight phenomenon. Also, my first launch as a Florida Space Coast resident! 📷- Me/@interstellargw

I couldn’t agree more, and I will add another angle to what Jared has said. so many people seem to think SpaceX and NASA are competitors. in reality, we are collaborators. the things SpaceX does better SHOULD BE the things they do better. but the beauty of NASA is that we are chartered to do the science, the engineering, and the technology research that is unlikely to work, but if it does, will revolutionize their respective fields. for example: there is no short term or medium term profit incentive for understanding astrophysics, astrobiology, heliophysics, etc. but, because of that research, we now know that there is potential to achieve unlimited material resources from asteroids. now the private space industry is actively investing in asteroid mining. because of the long tail research done, we now know there is a profit this is even more exemplary in the earth observation/LEO economy. there was little to no incentive before in launching all of these satellites into LEO to observe the Earth. but NASA did it, and now there is an market that is many billions dollars. the very same thing could be said about the rockets themselves! NASA is burdened by the bureaucracy, TRUST ME I will be the first to admit this, having lived in it for a large chunk of my career and been frustrated by it more times than I can count. I’m glad we have Jared Isaacman, who has, in my opinion, truly done an amazing job at beginning to chisel away at that. I just do not agree with the sentiment that SpaceX or any of these private companies are “better” than NASA. because the truth is, often times we’re comparing apples to oranges. we’re not in competition, we’re very symbiotic, which is imo a very beautiful thing to see
So the post below went a bit viral, and I was tagged on it several times. I'm not posting to disagree, as I write and talk a lot about freeing NASA from external impositions, eliminating needless bureaucracy, empowering our talented workforce, and focusing resources on the objectives NASA was created to achieve. No need to rehash all of that here and make this post excessively long. And of course, SpaceX is an extraordinary company that has enabled NASA to accomplish far more at lower cost, from transporting astronauts to the ISS, to launching Europa Clipper, to the first Moon Base mission set to launch in December. Its ambition to make humanity a spacefaring civilization is exciting and important beyond words. I will just leave you with this: NASA is the world's greatest space agency. We put 12 American heroes on the Moon and brought them home safely, built the Space Shuttle, landed rovers on Mars, launched great observatories like Hubble, James Webb, and now Roman, sent a spacecraft to kiss the Sun's corona, and sent Voyager nearly a light-day from Earth, and she is still going. There is a reason the NASA "meatball" is one of the most recognizable logos on the planet. What our people accomplish inspires generations. Even with the occasional institutional inertia, NASA remains the space agency others aspire to be. We didn't earn that reputation through continuous perfection. We earned it by accomplishing what others thought impossible.

with codex, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to orchestrate all of my devices, plus any cloud. it seems like that workflow is quite cluttered and could be made seamless

The setup I want: - Always-on Mac at home - Coding agent with computer use - MacBook that syncs my sessions - iOS app + voice agent paired with my Mac So I can voice control everything on my machine through the mobile app And work on those same session when I’m at my desk
11
also, I would really like to see the chat and work and codex properly merge. I want to be able to start chat sessions, have projects contain both chat-only and work/codex, and not have to switch back to the chatGPT view to enter "chat mode". I really value the usage of Pro, and I also really do not want to use up my usage if I know I'll just be doing research, and then I can start a new thread for the actual agentic functionality. it would be nice to even be able to convert a chat session to work/codex if I decide I want some agentic usage (though it's easy enough to start a new codex thread and just tell it to look at that chat)

I think dot seems to be a step in the right direction? but then everything happens from one chat which may not be where I want things, even if I'm just orchestrating other threads from there
14
for example, I find that starting threads in the cloud is great because I can continue them on my phone if my mac is closed. but I also want them to be able to use my mac from that same thread when my computer is open, so it has access to whatever I'm looking at

DAVINCI proves it can stand the heat 🔥 To prepare for its descent through Venus’ scorching atmosphere, a model of the DAVINCI probe was heated to 869 degrees Fahrenheit (465 degrees Celsius) six different times. It passed every test unscathed.
