These zinnia looked super puny and droopy after the big 20 inch rainfall we received. Thankfully they’re perking up and almost ready for me to harvest and attempt drying.

The loss of Charlie weighs heavily
It makes me cry to think about the continuing ripple effect of his murder. I am not sure if we will ever fully grasp the affect his leadership was having on the Republican Party and thus the country.
His ability to steer the White House in the direction of the concerns of conservatives and independents
The unifying effect he had on the conservative movement, somehow unifying the Tucker Carlsons with the Ben Shapiros and the Dave Rubins with the Allie Stuckeys just enough to win elections against an evil party
His passion for getting out the vote among his audience and college students

This little hero rode his kayak around our street this morning picking up all the trash and recycles our community put out last night. The kids in our neighborhood are GOOD kids being raised to be incredible citizens.

Those teddy bear sunflower and 2 of the zinnia heads are sitting in some silica gel.
Amaranth is hanging to dry.
I've got a slow cooker of apples for apple butter and a second slow cooker making oumpkin butter. There's a dehydrator drying out fresh orange slices on another counter.
Safe to say I'm in full autumn mode.

Early morning (first) amaranth harvest!
What will it be? A wreath? A part of a table centerpiece? I'm going to first attempt to dry it. I have a wall in the house that already has a little damage so what's a few little push pins gonna do?
For the record, I've never grown amaranth before so I'm curious to see if the climate and soil conditions will let these keep growing and if I can cut and come again!!

🌊King tide on Florida's Space Coast!
This evening the Atlantic was putting on quite a show at Pelican Beach Park in Satellite Beach. We live about five blocks from the ocean, and can hear the 8+ foot surf all the way to our house.
The waves are crashing right up to the beach access stairs, and the beach is closed for everyone's safety.
🌊So what exactly is a king tide?
A king tide is an unusually high tide that happens when the gravitational pull of the sun and moon combine to create some of the highest tides of the year. Add rough surt, and the results can be pretty dramatic! These high winds are most likely having an affect as well.
Beautiful to watch, but definitely a day to admire the ocean from a safe distance.
